the volks suppression bulletin has an awesome name. i think "complete disregard for safety" Personally i think bulletins don't do a whole heck of a lot, but then again i'm no pro either. The only ones I like are the veterancy bulletins. Most bulletins have like 3-5% on some stat. unless the base number is very high, 3-5% is negligible, and even then... still not noticeable. the panther 3% armor one, 3% of 320 is good, but whats another 10 armor on 320. meh. I too desire this commander if only to use against american rifle blobs. I'd happily pay for this commander. I have gotten so many duplicate WFA commanders and very few vanilla army commanders. I've found this odd since there are so many eastern front commanders and so few western front. At least to me it seems like okw/usf commanders drop at a higher rate. This commander in team games is amazing. One of my mates uses it frequently and well. I'm envious for sure. In: Lobby |

ok, basically what i already suspected. I didnt barrage with mortars so i'll do that next time. I just hate the accuracy of barrage and figured it would be better to attack ground through fow when los was lost. mortar hts have been the most effective and i usually have spearhead in my loadout. rngesus hates my incendiary barrages though, ask everybody with maxim spam ive tried to burn ![]() The only issue i have with going elsewhere and leaving mortars to kill building is, what happens if they go after the mortars? If they have 2-3 units do it, you're losing one of the mortars even if you retreat the instant you see them. i suppose flamer pios defending mortars would mitigate, but i really like them with my army in an urban map. lots of opportunities for sneaky flanks with them. or leave an mg with them i guess. I've only seen this done four or so times, im likely a lower end of mid level player, so guys like me dont do this often. although one time it was The Angry Bears (dammit napalm!!!) who did it to us, most of the time i don't think they were even arranged teams. as for a seven minute stuka.... i rarely play okw, and my mates have never gotten one quite that fast. best ive seen was about 9-10. i don't doubt it though. destroying every building on some maps would take 20 minutes. i have tried to level the buildings i would use for it and leave only the crappy ones that go down in a stiff wind if i suspect it though. cases that ive done that they dont use the FHQ aggressively though. but yes, when i see one, im afraid of strong buildings. personally i think they should only be able to be built in connected territory like most other buildings, but that's just my two cents. |

I have a replay but i don't think it's really necessary. So he rushed an engi to near our cut off, popped him in the building and the instant it was in, the building magically grew flags. So my response was to build mortars and spend first 60 munis on flames for pio. The first building was just too much, even after multiple attempts at flanking etc. His uber cons would shred anything that got near and once he got them to full reinforce hed go after the mortars. The mortars took like (two of them) 3ish minutes to knock down a building. Of course he did it in a good full health building. So ultimately we had to ignore the first one and push elsewhere as, we were stuck on our side of the map and the game was nearly over at minute 5. So we start to push and bla-dow, as soon as we ran into another soviet unit and he realized what we were doing, another building sprouted flags. now this one we actually didnt do too bad. Pinned the infantry with mgs and just shelled the crap out of the building, but its another 2 or so minutes lost. We advance and another 10 yards away we find a bunch of russkies and then he just made the nearest building another hq. I have no idea what to do against this strategy. If these FHQs are next to important points/pathways you can not ignore them. It takes too long and is usually very costly to destroy them, all the while ceding map control while trying to take it down. Ive tried a lot of stuff, from mortar HT incendiary, to luft supply off map incendiary, etc etc. This is a tough nut to crack, and used properly in team games i havent been able to beat it. i honestly fear urban defense on an urban map more than any other soviet strategy. as soon as you knock the pesky building down, there's another 5 yards behind it. okw mate going fast stuka is an answer but its far too late, just like 251 flames. it must be dealt with before T3 or your goose is cooked, but how? |

I don't see why the Italian campaign is impossible. Italian armor wasnt good, so they just had german ones. problem solved. elefants were in italy so there is one heavy call in, and just add tigers too. (havent researched if tigers were in italy, but timeline seems like they might have been) The Elefant that was shipped to the US was recovered in Italy. Commonwealth troops wouldnt have any problems lining up against all the axis factions and just augment the Italian faction with German troops/armor as needed, which is entirely realistic as that's what they did. I do not suspect they will do it, but if I were in the brain storming room it would be my proposal. Just avoid making Brits like vcoh and it will be great. who doesnt want a sherman firefly? Pacific, on the other hand, doesnt seem like it would work. The war that would fit this game there was entirely infantry based after long naval/air bombardments. Actually the real war was fought at sea and taking the islands was merely to provide a platform for refueling and refitting to get to the next island so ultimately you could have Japanese homeland within reach of the land based bombers. Since this isn't a game suitable to air forces or ships.... I can't see that being viable. As for the ground war, the Japanese tanks were basically WWI models. How in the world could that hold up to a KV-1, let alone anything heavier. They wouldnt stand a chance against shermans. Just imagine a ton of light tanks running around (very slowly at that) getting shredded by jacksons. Not viable except as a standalone which would have to be incompatible with the prior factions. I can't imagine they would go that route. If they were heading down that path.... coh3 seems more likely that an incompatible standalone. I really hope they flesh out the WFA armies with some more commanders, but I'm sure they will do so. A close air support doctrine for the USF seems likely, at least to my reasoning. There are a bunch of different ways to go with both WFA factions,and I will be happy if/when they do so. Hopefully in another year or so we get something like the above mentioned Italian campaign. I do pray they don't sell it like they did WFA/AA. The separating of the two just seemed peculiar, but I bet that's more to do with Sega than Relic. They have a rough go of it in 4s. Easy 8s just don't have the punch to deal withat more than one heavy at a time. If using this doctrine in a big game I keep at least one jackson. I prefer it in smaller games so you can go lieutenant and captain and not tech major. Usually critical mass is three in 2v2s whereas in 4s there is rarely such a thing. I'm also disappointed in e8 anti infantry power. 75mm Sherman seems to do better ai. It's definitely one I keep in my loadout. Airborne rifle and infantry is my standard. |

Modify reckitbalance by adding luftwaffe supply. We called it maximum troll. Basically the same deal as napalm just faster kt. Okw spends fuel only on teching and kt. Wehrmacht elite can pretty much play as usual. Luftwaffe throws in some support weapons and med kits. Try to have elites do bulk of the fighting so they gets cps for tiger ace. Mostly for 4s but we dido it in a 3 also. Gardening brilliant on napalm. I just tweaked it. In: Strategy Desk |

So help me God if this devolves into a debate of my playercard i will mail all of you dog poop. So lmg grens kill a model or two as they close in but then get run off and cant fire moving. MG42 slows them down then they smoke it. mortars only work if they are too dumb to smoke mg. 222 doesnt seem to be accurate enough to do anything. Pgrens get rekt unless they are dumb enough to eat a bundled grenade. dont even think about halftrack, if you could get flames earlier, then maybe. so what p4 or ostwind right? WTF a cp 2 or 3 (i forget) infantry cant be countered by infantry/weapon teams? It's not that i cant do it, it just seems awfully hard. I know they're elite and have armor blah blah, but there must be a more reliable way to do it and i can't think of one. Flame pios can do okay except they squishy. mg42 with incendiary works great if not smoked, but they always smoke...... im stumped. |
