Which would fix nothing as PTRS would still be shit.
But hey, I have great idea for fixing shrecks!
Lets give volks G43s!
So, that helps how again?
If it's Guards that's the problem then that helps. If PTRS was the problem, then Relic should have said it's for PTRS, not Guards. And PTRS is for what exactly? Super rifles or AT Rifles? |
The BS-3 also doubled as a field gun, like the ZiS. I suppose one way to make it work is to use a small barrage or precision strike ability so it's a bit more versatile and similar to how other Soviet artillery works.
It's still an emplacement though. |
The good thing about this map is that it easily tells you who's a noob or an idiot: just find out who's not wiring/ blocking bridge, which is helped by seeing which part of your half is lost to the enemy.
There's surprisingly a lot of people that can't figure out blocking a bridge in any meaningful way to prevent a rush. |
SVTs would make no sense. DPs are long range, mosins are long range, PTRSs are at least theoretically long range, why would you put mid-short range rifle into it?
I didn't know SVTs were mid-range. However, Guards being long-range only brings up the question of why they have frag grenades...and Button being very short in range. |
And all they had to do was give Guards SVTs. |
I actually think the Winter version is much better: it is FAR less campy due to the frozen river and thus many more places to cross and surprise the enemy. The blizzard is a bit annoying though.
If there's a better version of this map, it's the winter version but without blizzards.
Also if possible WFA soundtrack! |
I like the map, but I've also played it to death before it got put into rotation. It's clearly a niche map with a particular playstyle.
If I were to remake it, I'd have one or more of the crossings include a collapsed path, similar to how LAnzur Factory has their crossings. And with that, one or more additional ways to cross, so it's not as much of a cramped choke fest. IMO this made Lanzur interesting since you couldn't possibly choke off EVERY point at once. Not unless you have a four-player team and they're all Elefant/ PaK43 commander selected. |
It's also hilarious how people (the vast majority of whom are overwhelmingly mediocre at the game) are suddenly experts able to analyze the balance changes before they've even played them. But that ignorance has traditionally been one of the CoH community's greatest strengths. By which I mean, above all else, it's the one thing this community is truly good at.
Yeah, no one's allowed to say murder is wrong since they never murdered/ have been murdered themselves. |
Yeah I'm not sure about the Obers and Guards. Obers seem to not have any use besides 60 muni sink to get back to their original level, so it feels like the gating kind of buff (aka dumb) rather than a fixing kind. I'm not sure just what Obers are for now, they are really just late-game grenadiers, which made them trivial in the first place.
For Guards the PTRS seems to only benefit anti-infantry, which is antithetical to the point of Guards' AT rifles. If you want buffed Guards vs infantry, give them SVTs or something, and PTRS is used towards vehicles. It's weird that only Penals and Irregulars/ Partisans have SVTs |
I thought the campaign was overly dramatic on the usual tropes of shooting retreating soldiers. Not offensive if you compare it with the Hollywood dross, it was more like dumb and unimaginative. |
