Thread: Crossing in the Woods - not a 2v2 map? 14 Sep 2014, 05:28 AM Hi everyone, I have played this map a few times and I win/lose on it about as often as I do on any other map, so this isn't a whine thread. This map is great for 1v1 but for 2v2 it's just terrible because it's so small. The fighting is so close to the bases that you barely even need to get reinforcement bunkers as Ostheer. There is barely any room for flanking and it encourages static game play. I think in the future I will spend one of my vetoes on this map when searching 2v2. Is this the right call, or is the map fine for 2v2 and I'm just playing it wrong? In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Modern Hilfswilige: help me with Ost Doc in 2 v 2 13 Sep 2014, 23:28 PM Hi all, There are some Osttruppen doc guides out there, but written back when they cost 120 MP Anyone have any tips for how to use them? I tried this doc in automatch twice just now and it's the hardest I've ever been stomped. I know they're buffed now but they lose against everything and you barely get a numbers advantage, and you can't really skip tech that much. Currently my strategy is to try and get 5 units of them, MG42(s), maybe a mortar, PAKs, arty officer, and some bunkers/trenches and try to lock down some part of the map until I can make tanks. Is there something else I should do instead? Anyone have replays of them using this doc successfully? One thing it seems to have going for it is that since you're not buying as many LMG42s, you can dish out an awful lot of fausts. Otherwise it seems horrible but maybe I just need to learn how to use it. edit I wasn't totally clear about the situation I want to use them in. Really, I'm looking for ANY strategy that will work with Ost doc, so I'm interesting in hearing about any success you've had with it, any map, any mix of ally faction/doc ... In: Ostheer Strategies

Thats like saying "man I'm getting tired of this football (American) meta with people using zone defense all the time." I know they're the core unit, and should stay that way, I'd just like a little more diversity in the faction's core units. Talking about mods here, so anything is changeable. So for your football example, it's less like wanting football to change, and more like wanting to invent a new sport with similar but also very different rules. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Are you taking a break from the CoH2 title?13 Sep 2014, 06:15 AM I've gotten more into it lately, actually. I play allies often mostly just to get games in less than 8-10 minutes. I'm playing auto-match from time to time just to have fun, not taking it too seriously, and sometimes I do comp stomp games. Long term, I'm having fun for now and waiting for modding to open up. My hope is that the chaotic freedom of player-modification will create a game where soviets are strong but not cheesy, all of Ostheer's tech tree is viable, US has some options besides rifle spam, and OKW can no longer truck push. Maybe a bit less blobbing all around. Call-in meta there, but as an option rather than a must. The fundamentals of the game are excellent. It just needs some risky tweaking that developers aren't in a position to undertake because they need to keep the game playable at all times. In: COH2 Gameplay

Thread: How to deal against 4 Shermans with 1 Axis tank13 Sep 2014, 05:56 AM I wouldn't say you suck at using Tigers if you can't kill 4 Shermans with one of them. 4 Shermans cost over 400 fuel, so it's not like killing them all with a single Tiger should be easy. In: Ostheer Strategies

A fast M-20 would have essentially swept the Axis from the field. There was only 1 Gren for fausting, no PaK until 8 minutes, and the first OKW vehicle was an IR halftrack(idk wtf was up with that). Noted. M20 is a unit I tend to neglect; I'll try using it more. Should have just sieged their trucks on the land bridge with AT guns since you went Captain I've tried such tactics once before by using attack ground and the shells kept hitting the ground before the truck over and over, and after that I just list interest in doing that, but I should try again, maybe there WAS an elevation issue, I just wasn't seeing it. Holy shit 7 Rifles+Captain and an Ambulance was all you had 20 minutes in. 7 rifles is too many. This was my first Rifle Company game, and I heard someone complain once that as Rifle Company, you can just spam vetted rifles and then spam easy 8s without almost no teching, and I was curious what would happen. Noted, though. I think I do make too many rifles in general. Your tank control was poor. Right as the Tiger Ace was called in you lost 2 E8s. If you had 3 E8s and your ally had an IS-2 (on that note, your ally should have stopped making T-34s and gotten an IS-2)you would have been fine. Yeah, I was doing a bad job controlling the E8s, and I also overestimated their ability to take on the Tiger Ace, I think. In: US Forces Strategies
