If I merge a conscript squad with shocktroops, does those conscripts get the same stats as a normal shocktroop or are they just PPSh-41 conscripts?

They get everything except the armor bonus that a shock trooper would normally have.

Also they dont look as cool :snfQuinn:

They also don't get the same base RA of squads they merge into. You're trading manpower and reinforce time for 5-10% less RA on those models. On shocks it's really significant because they don't get the 50% armor bonus.

Let me clarify:

It remains a conscripts vet 0 model with the base stats of conscripts entities with the weapon of the unit it has merged into and any vet bonuses that unit has.

my take away is: merging a vet0 con into a vet3 is a no brainer - always good.
merging a consript into a penal/shock/... can be helpful on the frontline, especially if the "merge to" squad has more vet.
If you are near base: better get "real" base reinforcements.
correct conclusion?

Since conscripts are cheaper to reinforce merging to Penals, support weapon and Guards is usually worth it even at base.

Merging to shock is very situational.

Merging Cons with Penals and Support Weapons are the best 2

Guards are meh don't do it too often though

Never merge Cons with Shocks or Engineers as Con models drop like flies when merged in shock troops and Engineers supposedly repair slower when merged, considering C.Es already have slow repair you don't want to have it be even slower.

Merging with Combat Engineers is actually a very strong way to keep your flamer in a fight.

In general you always want to merge when in combat. In base merge only if the unit you merge into is significanlty more expensive and has no armour (for example guards). Don't merge into support weapons with stock crews unless you need to keep them alive in battle. MGs get worse RA after merge, other support weapons also cost less to reinforce than conscripts. Do merge into captured support weapons, they are either conscripts, so you lose nothing, or more expensive models that don't really need their RA that much in this role.

Think you got something wrong, hmg and mortars have target size of 1.25 while conscripts have a target size of 1.09 so conscripts have better RA. Only ATGs have target size 1.

Something to note: target_size is not exactly RA. Conscripts merging into a squad inherit the received accuracy modifiers of the target squad. However, target size is not something that is altered when merging. MG squads do have a worse RA than conscript squads as far as veterancy goes, that is also technically true.
