as okw? how? with the short-range rakten? one faust?

even when you slow the jackson with a faust it is fast enpugh to get easily out of range from 3 puppchens.

(dont remember on the poor accu from them..misses, hit the ground...aiming slow like noobs)

panzer greens are not at units they still have stg, nade and lack any sort of slow/snare to tanks.
do u get the point ?

(that is a rethorical question, but in case you lack any sort of common sense I will spoil you the answer - no, it will no longer be an AT unit, it will be generalist unit, you know, like god damn ISU is)

not it would be an op unit, at unit =/= dedicated at units, at units are units that have relaiable penetrations for their price

AT unit = at expert unit
AI unit = AI expert unit
unit which is expert in AI and AT...istn it a AI AND AT unit?
(reminder: guards are mostly on the same performanche lvl like the expert unit from AI or AT)

IMO, M36 Jacksons get a double buff in the last patch:
From one hand they get their HP boosted.
But they also get the "indirect buff" of the Panther nerfs, and the Heavy Axis TD damage reduced (elephant and JT).
Thats the reason why we now watch jacksons rounding around the map with almost any proper counter.


OKW PV got nerfed overall (cheaper worst performance) and OH PV got buffed (buffed overall only nerf was popcap). New Jackson shoot as fast as new OH PV (0.1s difference).
But they were never the answer to Jackson as high pen is irrelevant against them. OH PV has an equal stand against new Jackson. From 3 vs 4 shots to pen to kill each other to 4 vs 5 while they now have pretty equal RoF.

Ele/JT are irrelevant for 1v1 but still useable on the same maps they have always seen use on 2v2+. Ele not so much as the 10 range difference with JT makes it less desirable.

The biggest change was the dynamic with T3 vehicles. Any 2 tanks which were able to get into range of a Jackson, were able to kill them fast. If you knew there was a Jackson still, it was easier to just boom rush it frontally with either PIV or Stug, as you only needed 3 shots to kill it.

Jacksons changes required? Start with taking away rotation, turret rotation, speed/acc.

then it would just be turning the jackson into the Firefly. We are just digging a deeper grave for variety.

this is why I suggested giving jackson better survivability by giving it smaller size, sight, smoke, and rotation, instead of buffing the HP.

The thing is, i don't think there's gonna be time nor space to test another itineration of what the Jackson is supposed to look like. The Jackson currently is a FF, which is more or less what USF needs for the late game. For cheap, mobile AT, they already have the doctrinal M10. If USF had been thought to have some late game transition, it would probably would had upgrades for the Sherman, but that's has been settle down to be a commander slot.

Right now you are juggling with having a proper TD which can tackle heavy armor vehicles, while not been 2 shotted by them (which was basically the reason Jackson went to 640HP instead of either 560HP/600HP). Maybe 600HP should be tested, since the heavy long range TD had been nerfed against mediums, but there's so much HP you can reduce if the tank is meant to cost 400mp 140f purely AT.

as I said before, buffing the jackson's hp was the lazy option.

turning the jackson into a FF clone is similarly unimaginative if "safe".


And turning the Jackson into a slow ponderous TD is a serious 180 degree departure from its original incantation and how US TD were suppose to work.

But that model didn't work. Same as OKW been an aggressive truck emplacement faction in order to get resources or been resource starved.
M10 should had been non doctrinal, if that is your view on USF TD playstyle, and Jackson been a late late game unlock (maybe after all tiers are researched).

That model never applied to jackson, which always was ranged one, but it was exploited already by old M10 and proved to fail(anyone remember the famous vid, where 3x M10 engage KT, 2 of them get on KT rear and all of them die? yeah, that was a call for USF TD changes).

So let me ask this, how much of the current issues do you guys think is a result of reliance on doctrinal units over additional non-doctrinal teching?

That is, do you think giving each army additional units that you can get for extra cost + teching requirement might alleviate a lot of units over performance at various stages in the game?

It seems like some units are balanced with the understanding and caveat that some will be very strong when first made but balance out the further the game goes or the opposite, they will be weak at first but once vetting a bit they will be much more effective.

or just nerf the range so it remains a chaser/runner TD unique to usf but pak/jagdp4 works as a counter as they out range it (rak still cries in the corner)

Outside of super heavies, TDs are NOT meant to counter other TDs so that suggestions is pointless.
You can creep with both, PaKs and Raks. Don't be so terrified of using any other micro then a-move.

yea 50 range at gun rak, so the counter to elefant and jagstiger was always there at gun creeps revert the nerf boys master katitof has spoken
