Wow I didn't look at this tournament closely till now. So the top 8 (everyone that qualifies for the real tournament) is decided by BO1? That seems very reckless, remember when Romeo knocked out VonIvan in BO1 during ESL? I'm sure qualifying is more important than winning supply.
They should have just done 3 x BO3 and narrowed it from 64 to 8.

I guess by "single elimination" they mean "Best of 1"? That's not really what "single elimination" means when it comes to tournaments.
Single elimination: You lose one match (best of whatever) and you're out of the tournament. (Example: NCAA March Madness)
Double elimination: There is an upper bracket and a lower bracket; and you need to lose two matches (best of whatever) to be knocked out of the tournament. (Example: dota2 TI6)
