Minor gripe with Ostruppen

One thing I've noticed when playing the Ostruppen commander is that the Panzerfaust is locked behind building T1.

I feel like this is just annoying. I'm not saying it should be unlocked at T0 or anything, but I believe teching to level 1 or building T2 should unlock it as well. I shouldn't have to specifically build a building that I'll not build any units out of (especially if you are getting 3-4 Ostruppen, meaning you're going to be manpower starved). I just don't see the logic in forcing the unlock into a building that I'm going to have to either build from the start, delaying my quick-cap / rush building or cutoff strat against brits / usf, or have to retreat my engineers simply to build a building.

It would just make sense to make the ability unlock at either building T2, or teching. Thoughts?

Isn't the cost of T1 almost equal to AT nades upgrade ?

Build it right after you build your t2. It's only 100/10 IIRC. Negligible.

Sounds reasonable, coupled with the time it takes the Pioneers to build T1...

Its less then a half of that.
150/25 for AT nades.
80/10 for T1.

There is no excuse not to get T1 up if you need faust.

T1 is cheaper than Soviet AT nade unlock, but requires pios at the base.
Seems balanced.

Still gives you access to new units (what if suddenly realized that you need that mortar?)

Osttruppen by themselves are rarely enough anyway. A mortar/sniper/grenadier is usually a must-have as well.

Depends on the map. Locking down Semoiski with 4 Osttruppen sitting in the village is efficient enough. Also Osttruppen received a massive indirect buff when the MG42 was moved to T0.

My "minor" gripe with Osttruppen is that they don't get the accuracy bonus in buildings, even though the icon pops up above the squad. Bug or?

OH + sniper is still best anti-UK combo, especially in Semois you just garrison all the building and the UK player just gg after 10mins.

I can't be sure, but they seem to suck more then usual when inside buildings. I've found several threads claiming that they don't get the bonus inside buildings:
https://community.companyofheroes.com/discussion/185028/osttruppen-commander-is-seriously-underwhelming
https://www.coh2.org/topic/33835/osttruppen-building-bug

The issue is obscure enough that we may never know the truth.

Maybe it's because of lack of windows sometimes? Ostruppen are 6 men, so I use them like cons - I put them in buildings only when they're not a full squad or when really necessary. Though I may be mistaken, because it's not like this game isn't bug infested after all.

I'm not sure about the garrison claim that they don't get the accuracy buff, I haven't played with them enough to notice it, but their damage is already so negligible that it's very hard to tell if they are doing better in buildings or not.

Like I said though, it's a minor gripe, and it depends on your playstyle. I've just found it's a minor annoyance that it's locked behind getting a building up instead of through teching alone like most other upgrades, even if the cost is negligible.
