The Jackson has better damage, armor, and pen, but at a cost of 125 fuel (45 more fuel than the wolverine) how much better is it? You can get 3 wolverines for the price of 2 jacksons and you can also completely skip the major and save another 90 fuel. It total you can have 4 wolverines or 2 jacksons + a major. The Wolverines are also a lot better at running over infantry than the Jackson, especially with the faster movement ability. You also don't have to get 3/4 wolverines as you can get 2 wolverines and a bulldozer or something similar to that.

I have found the M10 to be most useful as a safety measure against things like Ostwinds and Luchs. It can be great at shutting down those kinds of shock units since it can come out of nowhere so easily.
Other than that, it pretty much under performs in every way except infantry crushing.

Even at vet 3 the M10 can do almost nothing to Panthers and Tigers. I would like to see the M10 become non-doctrinal in the captain tier. Perhaps lock it behind a nominal upgrade that makes you pick pack howitzer or m10.

@OP: For team games jackson and for 1v1, M10. The Jackson has better vet bonuses, reliable PEN/DPS and overall is a kickass TD. It's slightly garbage before reaching vet 1 though.

I just played a game trying out the wolverines. I had 3 of them and surrounded and killed a tiger with ease while my bulldozers cleaned up the pak guns and grens. For the price of 1 tiger you get about 3 wolverines.

M10 is not made to fight Tigers and Panthers. He is for stopping ostheer T3 units together with Pumas and pzIIs. And it does a good job because it can be spamed in numbers, it's fast and it can crush infantry, as a bonus.

Just because they told you they raised the pen on the jackson in patch notes, that doesn't mean you will notice it in game much, if at all. The Jackson still bounces like crazy on anything bigger than a p4, and now when you do score a hit you do less damage then you used to, making it harder to back off heavy tanks then before. When a jagdpanzer can cloak, move just as fast, see farther, and pen more reliably then a jackson can, and can soak up at least 5 hits before dying to a jackson while killing it in only 3, I think you might be a little over-singing the Jackson's praises.
That being said - long range damage is better than short-range or flanking damage when you consider that getting in close with m10s is going to bring you right into the range of mines, paks, shreks, and panzerfausts.

The M10 is significantly faster than the Jackson. The reason the Puma and M10 are comparable is that they are both lighter units built to counter things bigger than them.
