$13 for one army gives you access to multiplayer. That's much much much cheaper than before, and I'm very enthusiastic about that news.

This looks like it could be a lot of fun. $20 dollars will be a lot considering Opposing fronts gave us 2 factions and 2 pretty strong campaigns for the same price.

Does anyone know if the new armies will be able to be matched with/against the old armies in automatch? For example, America vs. the Eastern German faction? If so, great. If not, it'll take waaaay to long to find a game.

This is awesome news, but I can already feel the painful, angry and emotional forum posts in regards to balance that will last a minimum of 2-3 months when the two factions hit. Balance WILL get insanely out of whack, it will be a miracle if the launch goes smooth.

What I was really hoping for was a presentation completely rethinking their marketing of commander DLC, which, lets be honest, is what is really preventing growth and will continue to do so.

As an american fanboy in vCoH, this announcement is certainly the next best thing. The fact gets me hyped enough to disregard the depressing nature of CoH DLC.

You know... I was finally srsly contemplating whether to finally get CoH 2 with this news but then I remembered MOAR DLC's will follow with P2W commanders so yea.



I can't just seem to forget a Relic's employee statement that DLC's won't affect multiplayer gameplay but this was never true from day 1.

vCoH2 armies are still broken since alpha and beta but relic decided to release 2 more armies, this reminds me of vCoH1 and then OF with 2 new armies, but the differences are that USA and Wehrmacht were more balanced than Soviets and Ostheer now and expansion with new armies broke the game. This time CoH2 is totally screwed IMO

i have to go here with barton, if rus vs ost wont be completly balanced till new faction will be released, the whole caos will be here, and the work from the past could be destroyed... if this happens... hope relic knows what he is doing, cuz in terms of balancing they could get lost really fast.

Wait a minute that map looks a lot like the map from the Easter Front mod from vcoh, the same one that PQ worked on, espicially the first picture. Anyone see the resemblance?

To all the people I told on Steam that the idea of Western Front factions is simply absurd... I am appalled. The original direction of CoH 2, as marketed, was to 'tell the story' of the Eastern Front. They could keep telling that story with Finnish, Hungarian, Italian, Romanian, and/or Bulgarian factions, as well as creating a second Soviet faction (as the foil to the PE of CoH 1). IF I was Russian or a citizen/resident of the former USSR, I would be offended. As an American, I am simply appalled at their choice for these new factions.
The balance issues, the "which vehicles are they using" issues, and whatnot, but simply... this. Why western front? WHY?

That would be awesome. In theory people would only have to shell out $12 to try out multi-player and then only another $12 if they wanted to play in tournaments. Sure they'd be at a mild disadvantage without being able to actually play the two factions they didn't purchase but a $24 investment to get into CoH 2 + tournaments is a pretty good deal in my book.

Also I think it'd be really cool if Relic made CoH 2 free to play for 2-4 weeks before the new factions launched. I think with the infantry patch we just got, plus the next patch they have in the works we're going to have a damn awesome game. Awesome game mechanics plus new faction hype plus free to play means everyone/anyone could come back and give the new CoH 2 a try.

I think this infantry patch has been the most fun CoH 2 I've played. Tactical play is immensely rewarded and the fights are downright brutal (which is sweet!). Also gotta give big props to Relic, PQ and the rest of their balance team for giving us a hotfix to clear up a few things that didn't hit live as planned :) faction balance feels pretty damn close again.

why revisit 2 armies that have already been done and mastered?
what happens to commanders, will they be consolidated so we don't have useless ones?
do the new armies get downloadable commanders?
how is relic going to manage balancing all 4 factions?

I will probably buy this expansion but if it's a dud then that will be the last cent relic sees from me.

About the discussion you are having if it is ok to bring new armies to the game and about the balance. I really don't care that much because i don't play the game to be the best, i play it because i want to have fun so the new WA DLC is very welcome. Don't get me wrong, i want balance too because if you don't have balance you cant have fun also. So i leave this aside for a bit and get hyped about the new stuff. I love the US from vCOH, why not have them in COH2 :-)

Balance will come one day, but it will come sooner if we all give Relic constructive feedback and not be raging and stuff. I know, it's hard (for me too sometimes) but it only makes things worse than better.

That's it, i stop now. Can wait till June!!
