What's more, the incredible Eastern Front mod for Company of Heroes is now available on Steam. Get ready to wage war with the original Company of Heroes 2 factions, the Soviet Army and the German Ostheer, in the original game!
Well, I think it is just some marketing talk about the mod The factions supplied by the mod are exactly Soviets and Ostheer so it is quite obvious to compare them with coh2 vanilla factions. But they are much different in the way they work.
I might be wrong of course, but how would you imagine choosing just 3 commanders in order to import new factions to old game? And going around all the different design rules and mechanics? This would be clear madness.
The ISU-152 has similar firepower to su85 against tanks when switched to armour piercing. But it is a really expensive su85 and it doesn't self spot any more. So in fact in 99% of cases you just keep it on HE rounds and wipe infantry left right and center. That is, unitl elefant or JT come into play. They hardcounter isu152 becouse it can't outrange AT any more. So you have to be really careful with it then. It is still worth it if you manage to wipe some vet squads at this stage of the game but getting it when its counters are already on the map is not a good use of your resources.
oh man, it's starting.
lelic gave up on DOW3 and is now going back to vcoh
They didn't really have enough time to create an update for 10 years old game since dow3 failed. I'm pretty sure they prepared the update for the aniversary day but then realised it may decrease dow3 sales so they waited for the release dust to settle.
Friendly fire may help, but I think the main problem is how good autofire is with pretty much every indirect fire option (barring howitzers for the obvious reason).
As for autofire vs barrage usf stock indirect fire options are good example of how it should be done. For example the pack howie has quite a small range, but it gets huge when you use a barrage. Same with usf mortar: it has small range but if you use smoke dropping ability, you get the good range. What if all indirect fire was like that? So that you got full range only in certain abilities.
Does anyone know how auto match actually works? I mean I get that its based off of your auto match rank and not your level, but I consistently find myself up against max level players, although I'm only half that. How do the levels relate to your place in the leader boards?
These levels have absolutely no relation to niether rank nor skill. They are based on how much experience all your units got during all your matches - so in fact all they are related to is playtime. Mind that the single player playtime also counts and that some players have multiple accounts.
The best choice is to switch faction, especially to the one you are most often losing to. You can try same strategy that made you lose and see what other soviet players do to counter it.
The friendly fire is not something that doesn't exist. It is simply not consistent, some units deal more FF and some deal less. So yes, even now there are units that do well against friendly units and bases and you can do that if you want. On both sides. Moving all units to 100% FF won't change that so it is perfectly safe thing to do.
T-34 was obviously much better design than p4. But it is not true that in game it is reversed. The thing is that these tanks were modified multiple times during the war and if you compare late to early war versions, the late one will always be better, even if the initial design was flawed. In this case, the p4 germans get from their tiers is a 1944 version, while the t-34/76 is a 1942 version. Later in the war soviets switched to mass producing t-34/85 and this is the tank you should compare to p4 in 1943 and up setting. In that case the t-34/85, both in game and in real life, is much better than any version of p4 ever made.
This also has lots to do with the design of factions, becouse while ostheer uses their 43-44 equipment in all their tiers, including T1, soviets tend to move in time with tech, from 41-42 to 43 and get their 1944 units only in commanders.
