Everything that has been said here is good. Build Order is half the battle; whether it's getting a couple of MGs and an extra pio and then rushing for Pgrens or it's staying in T1 as long as possible, it doesn't matter so long as it works.
I played a game against a fellow Bear today, lasted about 110 minutes. Ostruppen doctrine works well, I've found, against all of the factions. Double sniper + 3-4 Ostruppen and a couple of MGs? You're set against USF or the brits. Hell, you'll even fuck up everything the soviets have except maybe well-used shocks.
But the best thing, the most important thing my friend Iron Emperor told me is focus. Always focus. There are a few things that can help with micro in game; control groups for infantry (I always control group every one of my squads; MGs on 6 or 5, Sniper on 5, tanks on 7, rocket artillery 0, etc.) If you don't use hotkeys, change the settings from classic to grid; makes hotkeys a hell of a lot easier to use.
Lastly, put your phone on airplane mode, or turn it off, or whatever. mute the phone.
If you want to win, it doesn't matter that the credit card company is calling about your $30k debt, or if your wife needs you to pick up the kids from school. You're out there in Minsk killing Communists, or in Holland killing Tommies, or, in this case, you're out there in Semois killing Uncle Sam.

Anyway, these changes are all bringing coh2 in a balanced direction. Relic is willing to change/sacrifice initial faction ideas for balance which, for gameplay, is a good thing. This is an opinion and yours may differ.
Anyway, for the people above arguing about vet 5 OKW being bad because it takes so long to get or whatever. F1sh, for example, makes the argument that keeping vet units alive to vet 4-5 should give you bonuses. Sure. But when you look at it from the perspective of, say, a USF player whose rifles are stuck at vet 3.
I've had games where, at most, only 1 infantry squad is wiped the whole game from each side until the late game. Both players had equal unit survivability, but late game I get boned because my OKW opponent has extra bonuses for his soldiers while I do not. It is, frankly, stupid, for one player to be rewarded more than the other in this manner. |

But this is a game, where I get punished for playing combined arms and really being aggressive and sneaky, at same time. Then my combined arms get thrown out of the window by one unit mid/late game, that is really hard to counter. That is really bullshit, especially when dodging and spacing out my units as I should. This should counter the werfer effectively but doesn't, hence the longer flight time. Still it seems a lot of players just wants the game to be a indirect fire game. Guess the USF will be in for a treat when the calliope shows up.
Whether war is hell is not a factor in this equation, this is a balance discussion. If the game has these units where even reacting correctly won't save you from the wipes, then it'll never go to e-sports.

Agreed. The pwerfer, as a close range wipe/pin machine, is doing its role perfectly fine.
I only rush T4 for it if I know there are blobs walking around that are asking to be wiped.
However, I think the Katy is underperforming in its role when compared to pwerfer.
As a long range AOE rocket artillery that should deter blobbing by axis, it doesn't give any suppression/pinning and does less damage in a bigger spread.
Methinks upping the damage a little per rocket and adding suppression/pinned to units hit would bring Katy into line - thereby balancing it. I wouldn't even mind paying a bit more fuel for it if it meant more damage/utility.
I would agree that Katy needs a buff. I don't know why its rockets fire in fours... it seems stupid.

no, katy is fine because whilst it can be effective, it is not a wipe machine like pwerfer is now.
ostheer t4 is the hardest tech to get, but that does not mean it should be that good.
Panzerwerfer is currently the best arty piece in the game and it's blatantly overperforming by wiping team weapons even on max range without the possiblity to react. Every game I use it, I get 30+ kills - usually between 40-60 on every single piece.
On the other hand, T4 for Ostheer is way too costly. Right now, Ostheer performs weak in teammatches against a mixed team with brits. Brit blobs with double LMG, supported by double Pak and a mortar emplacement/sniper break Ostheer. In order to deal with British team weapon spam, Ostheer needs a proper artillery unit which comes too late and at a too high price.
Ostheer T4 is too expensive. Perhaps Relic thought keeping it that high was to prevent players from rushing out the panzerwerfer? Skipping T3 to get a... Brummbar is, well, stupid. Skipping to get a panther is more useful but still not as useful seeing as it has little impact against infantry and, if you're rushing T4 for a Panther cuz you need AT, the game would most likely be over by that time...
Panzerwerfer could get a scatter increase across the board, I think.
The way coh2 is designed as a relatively fast-paced game means that rocket artillery is more effective than traditional artillery because you don't need a gun batter to bombard defensive fortifications. Rocket artillery is better against a defensive line because it covers a wide area and it kills in one salvo, in a few seconds. That's what makes rocket artillery more powerful than the Priest, for example.
For that reason, I don't know why rocket artillery is so much cheaper than conventional artillery in the game. But, regardless of that point, a tiny, teeny weeny nerf to the panzerwerfer is in order while a buff to katyusha would be good.

That's just the thing I wasn't blobbing and I was responding to the sound, trying to dodge, but at far range it still wiped two vet three squads. Relic specifically states that units that leave you without time to react are not functioning as intended, the werfer leaves little time to react and no room for error, this is exactly the opposite of what relic wants to achieve. Hence the nerf to the Katy, which wasnt't, pre-nerf, as effective as the werfer is now. I do realize that it should punish blobs, but as I wrote, I didn't blob, sure my infantry was fighting side by side, but not clumped up, but significantly spaced to not warrant a double wipe, when actually dodging in right direction(placement of the barrage). I don't think being punished for doing the right thing is fair.

Katyusha was only good because you could rush a katyusha and wipe Ostheer support teams clinging to life waiting for a Tiger with a fuel, muni, and VP point. Now that it comes later, just like Pwerfer, it makes Katyusha less effective because weapon teams/infantry have more time to get xp to vet up.  |

When reading Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's book "Brothers in Arms: The Epic Story of the 761st Tank Battalion", I clearly remember Abdul-Jabbar distinctly addressing the tendency for Sherman crews to put sandbags, trees, anything they could on the front of their Sherman tanks. After realizing it didn't do anything, he said that the crews felt safer.

I'm curious what other people outside of the U.S. think of Donald Trump. He's still leading the polls for Republican candidates.... I'm not going to say much about my own opinion, other than I think he would be a terrible president and permanently damage the reputation of the U.S. ...I'm curious to see what non-U.S. citizens with at least moderate knowledge of history (because you all play and like coh2) think of him.

Emplacements are dumb. They should not have been part of the design of the Brits at all.
Making emplacements easier to decrew is stupid.
If I fire a smoke barrage on a Bofors, send up a flamer pio to decrew the bofors, then recrew it with my pio, I get a bofors and retain my pio squad.

proper terminology would be something like a "defensive line" or "defensive position". Realistically, any faction can create such a thing, although they look different because of the tools and resources each faction has at their disposal in order to create such a defensive line. |
