Thread: June 21st Patch Analysis23 Jun 2016, 07:59 AM I certainly appreciate .orgs "official reactions" or whatever to the big patches. I only have an issue with the mine change: I wish there was a way for Relic to make the doorways into houses no-go zones for mines within a certain radius. Mines didn't need to be changed and in fact, I appreciated the more brutal and taxing gameplay that the lethal mines created. It would be nice if there was less focus on vet and unit survivability with a more brutal game. Expect to lose squads but know that it wasn't the end of the world because the vet bonuses would be less strong. That would've fit w/ the Eastern Front theme but it's ok, I guess that angle wasn't selling. In: News
Thread: Some maps STILL have deep snow23 Jun 2016, 04:56 AM Blizzards never were that random and occurred about every ten minutes. I think it was a cool novelty and if it were possible to reintroduce the mechanic combined with ColdTech. That being said, there shouldn't be a faction that has infantry that just ignores deep snow or mud (sturmpioneers looool) or a faction that has it's main infantry squad w/ an upgrade package that prevents soldiers from freezing to death. That was the main issue w/ WFA. I'm all for deep snow just not lots of it. I'm all for truly random blizzards that occur once roughly every 30 minutes of gameplay. I'm all for unit upgrades that can reduce the negative effects of weather but not eliminate those effects. Relic should've stuck w/ the Eastern Front and the original art style/feel of the game. Would've been cool to have lots of lend-lease brit/usa equipment in various Soviet doctrines or in another Soviet faction. Would've been cool to have Ostheer reflect '41/'42 Ostheer w/ P3s and shit, not some faction w/ little offensive ability in the mid game. /endrant In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: June 21st Balance update16 Jun 2016, 21:40 PM Problem with coh2 is that Relic doesn't seem to keep their focus straight. CoH2 at launch was this brutal game with brutal weather, brutal artillery, etc. Mine changes take that away. WFA/Brits took that away. It's all for balance but maybe there could've been less focus on veterancy so a vanilla unit isn't completely outclassed by something that's vet 3. Maybe there could be balance while having units die quicker. It's quite nostalgic to look back at coh2 in 2012/2013 and see the differences that are in it now. coh3 has got to stick with its feel the whole way through. Changing it up doesn't do anyone justice.
