Hi, hoping someone can look at this replay. It's rather long, 51 minutes, but I really lost myself in the late game.
I thought I played the early game very well, using my sniper to harass the fuel and getting a lucky countersnipe.
I think around the 20-25 minute mark is where it started to go wrong; I back teched for an AT gun, lost a T70 trying to kill a Puma, and lost some vet squads on some crazy flanks that I didn't look at long enough.
The late game was pretty boring; opponent ended up going into StuG spam with some P4s mixed in there and I didn't have enough to deal with it. I was constantly low on manpower; getting the IS2 in the first place was just hard enough.
Thoughts to comment on:
1) build order
2) armor choices (should I have done something differently?)
3) stupid places where I lost units (Sniper, being too aggressive w/ vehicles, etc.)
If anything, this thread should be talking about how Rear Echelons should be able to plant mines of some sort because mines win games. They're at a distinct disadvantage to other factions.
Demos are a great novelty; not necessarily the best for balance in a faction that doesn't have munition upgrades for most units, but still, it's a fun thing to have. They also make bad players rage when four of their squads die. Or Paula, when he decides to blob hard in a 1v1.
I think you are mixing some points up here. The G43 on grens has no chance to crit models below 70%. That's only the G43 on Jäger Light Infantry, the same crit thing applies for Pathfinders. But G43 on grens is just a buff to mid-close damage and moving accuracy.
I am quite certain that they don´t have it either.
Yeah, the only squads that have crit %chances w/ health are Pathfinders and Jäger Light Inf. Jäger infantry actually have the crit chance at a higher HP value meaning they're even potentially dangerous.
Of course, that could be wrong if Relic patched it some time ago and I overlooked it. The crit chance does not apply to I&R Pathfinders though.
The main reason why G43 is so good is because of high moving accuracy (it's .7-.8 --not sure which -- vs the standard .5) and high rate of fire. It's a poor man's Panzergren squad w/ faust.
It had happened to me in a recent 1v1... Definitely gonna do it again! Like, a literal strategy : Go Festung Armour for Pak 43 + Panzer Tactician + Hull-down the Ostwind at main fighting ground. A 50-range hull-downed Ostwind that can suppress incoming infantries and shred them to pieces. However, still, what is the statistic though?
@OP I'd recommend you take a look at that "combined arms" guide for USF. Even if you don't follow it to the letter (a lot of times I would go for the AA Half Track over the M20 if I'm already ahead in the early game) it is still useful; having the double rear echelon, then equipping them with bazookas is super effective. Even if a Luchs comes out rather quick, it's possible to have 150+ muni saved and a vehicle from the LT tier out and upgrading to weapon racks for the zooks.
That being said, four bazookas is formidable even for a panther. 2-3 rifles with vet have the AT nade which will stop the panther from maneuvering well.
M20 mines or regular mines are good too; also, Armor company can lay mines and demo charges w/ Assault Engineers which I'll sometimes do (or M20 mine w/ Demo) Note that the demo charge gets like 400 extra damage when its detonated by something other than clicking the button, so I think it'll kill a full-health panther (at least the ostheer one; perhaps Cmd Panther has higher HP?)
Anyway, just get lots of AT but don't be dumb and put a zook on a rifleman and a BAR on the same squad; keep your rifles for fighting infantry (unless you have some elite infantry and want one rifle w/ zooks), support units (even captain if you're desperate) with zooks too.
I'd say have no more than two infantry squads w/ Bazookas at any given point in time w/ a max of 2 for each squad.
i quit playing coh2 about 8 months ago. i was just wondering if the march 28th patch is supposed to be good enough to come back to coh2.
are there still spinning tanks ?
is there still 1 sec lag from commands ?
are there still major OP/UP units ?
your thoughts please.
i really miss playing a fun RTS, and there have been zero released in the last year. I was putting all my hopes in DOW3, but after playing the beta i think i will pass on it.
Was in a similar boat and just started playing again like a month ago.
Wher, and soviets are pretty great right now, lots of different ways to win with them
Brits are pretty good too, they have some blatently underpriced late game units, but it doesn't really hurt the game for me too much
USF is also in a good spot i think, not a great deal of commander variety and mabye the scot is kinda weak but other than that they are doing well lots of units seen used and made effective
OKW is weirder than ever and i have no idea if they are ever going to reconcile them like the soviet tweaks but i'm still having fun trying to figure it out. "They are the faction without a soul"
Community may be a little salty but honestly the game is still improving
Well, new patch hits on March 28th but changes have been tested by the community (community balance patch) for several months now. Check out AECoH on youtube to watch some of the King of the Hill games played using the CBP.
The game is definitely headed in a good direction but it's just taking time. Last big balance patch was in June 2016 so maybe in another 6-9 months we'll see a balance patch after this March patch but I see no reason why Relic would ditch the CBP idea and do balance things on their own/not do any more balance changes.
All in all, I'd say keep updated, you can play the CBP right now before the patch hits but the limited "scope" of the balance patch really only addressed infantry scaling and light vehicles, so early-mid game should be better to play, and there are a lot of bugs that have been eliminated (some aren't even on the patch notes as they are easy to abuse, so even mentioning them could lead to abuse in the last week or so that you can abuse them).
