They have completely stopped developing new commanders after "the great forum bitching" so now we have new factions which are completely saturated of them, but in return have few but diverse commanders in comparison to vcoh2 armies commanders with many abilities being the same and only a few being truly unique(tank hunters). Would you send a SU-76 against a T-54 or a Patton for instance and expect results? We don't have T-54 or Pattons here in coh2. Also, Patton hull wasn't exactly thickest thing in the world, it was inferior to panther, it just had a different turret then pershing. Also, old StuG pretty much proves that it have to be that effective, otherwise its trash. Optimally, considering how early it comes in the game, I'd like to see SU-76s do well against German light armour and medium armour like Pz 4s, Ostwinds etc. It would be better if the SU-76 didn't do well against Panthers and Tigers and KTs and forced the player to tech to tier 4 where you have heavier TDs. I'd find it reasonable for the SU-85 to Penn anything. It does well against heavier units only and exclusively when its amassed. All units do well against heavier units when they are amassed. Katitof you dont understand the value of this unit it seems Oh I perfectly do. I fully realize its too strong against lights(2x222 should beat it, not necessarily without a loss of one, but should win), but its AI performance isn't any different to that of any other AA halftruck, long range, suppression, great damage, M15 needs to be stationary for full power, but is effective against all light armor, 251 needs to be stationary, but can erase squad in single burst if they bunch up and have smoke for easier escape, M5 can reinforce, but doesn't have combat scaling as opposed to the two others, M5 also have different cost distribution as what you're paying in fuel for other two comes up in munis for M5.
