Thread: IL-2 Sturmovik strafe18 May 2015, 18:07 PM Jump back to quoted post18 May 2015, 17:09 PMdaspoulos It may not ez wipe anything on the map like before but it usually causes heavy enough damage to light vehicles or infantry to make the retreat or kill them. Rarely wipes them out, but the damage isn't nothing. Best used during a combined assault, not by itself. The problem is that it is hugely overpriced for what it does. You have the JU87 which for just 20 ammo more can take out freaking KV-2s, wreck full health AT guns or cause significant damage and suppression to infantry in a single strafe. The P47 pure antitank strafe causes more infantry casualties than the IL-2 for christs sake. The pinplane is just as damaging as the IL-2, is cheaper and causes way more suppression. The IL-2 strafe can stay as it is, but it's price needs to drop a lot to justify the poor performance of the ability compared to other strafes. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Vet gain18 May 2015, 18:01 PM Veterancy matters a lot. Next time, look more closely at how infantry battles go between vet 2+ squads and fresh squads in the lategame. Those fresh squads are hugely cost-inefficient until they have thrown enough (AT)grenades to gain some vet. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Armour on mines18 May 2015, 17:57 PM Well look at it from the other players perspective: He just spent a buttload of ammo and time to mine a flank, and has even gone so far as to cover his minefield with a machine gun. Then Rasputin comes along and clears out all his mines in less time than it took to place them, using less ammo than it costed to place them, and doing all this from a safe distance where the machine gun can't hurt him. Doesn't seem fair if you ask me. If the player has taken the time to fortify a position like that, it should take some more effort to break through rather than: Get a sweeper -> blow up all mines for free. Why not make a mortar, throw some smoke on the MG and clear out the mines while he can't see you? In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: IL-2 Sturmovik strafe18 May 2015, 12:24 PM It's a test to see if you are stupid enough to dump 180 munitions on a strafe that will barely do anything at all. Compared to other abilities, the current IL-2 strafe is worth about 120-130 ammo at best. In: COH2 Gameplay

The 120mm mortar is good, but it is not the full health squad wiper machine that some people make it out to be so the lethality is fine in my opinion. In: COH2 Balance
