Think of all the angry Frenchmen on metacritic LOL |
Welcome back. |
relic doesn't listen to anyone, i love your suggestions tho
also, budwise, how are you going to go against the grain if the factions are balanced?
Its more of a philosophy to not use whatever the OP canned strat of the month is and do something more creative and fun instead. |
The reason it feels off is because the upgrade options for Ost and Soviets is wacky. For both factions their T1 upgrades make them more polar opposites rather than swapping roles.
For Example:
vCOH
-Volks upgraded to MP40's which changed them from long range to short range
-BAR's upgraded to Rifles changed them from short range only to all ranges
COH2
-Grens bolt action rifles are long range, upgrade to G43 or LMG and its just "longer" range now.
-Cons upgrade to PPSH, short range just became super short range. Molotovs are also super short range. But closing the gap due to high DPS super long range Gren upgrades is near impossible.
In vCOH your upgrades could change the dynamic of how you position yourself in a battle, in COH2 it just makes the long range longer and short range shorter making it more difficult to use.
Solution? Buff con rifles a bit making them win more handily short range and maybe bring the PPSH damage up a little bit for medium range. I'd say also make PPSH a global upgrade but we've beaten that horse quite dead i think. |
I played only 2 games with germans since patch, both easy win, no fun.
So I played soviets, like 30+ games now, all 1v1. Went from rank ~30 to 100 in a hopeless losing streak, winning only when I met really different skill players.
But I'm finally slowly understanding how soviets have to be played now, and am climbing the ladder again.
Use cover, don't charge, etc etc, this has been said again again.
But I'll give you other things I noticed.
1. You will need ammo, way more than before. Plant mines and demos as soon as you can. Use oorah to charge or escape an engagement.
Do not hesitate to build an ammo cache if you can afford it.
2. Flamers are your friends. They will stop pio/pgren charge and make them crawl instead of charging you, and they also deal more damage vs units in cover (if I'm not mistaking).
3. Pio are overestimated. Sure, they will win 1v1 vs cons if they are close, but if they have to close in while cons focus them, they will lose. So, stay calm, do not charge them, and you should be fine.
4. Counter to german scout car => mines. Plant mines. I know, I said it yet, but I'll say it again, plant fucking mines everywhere.
5. You'll have to lose to learn new soviets, deal with it. Forget your so beautiful winning streak and stats, play, lose, and learn from it. Then you'll start to win.
Nice post. Definitely agree that people just need to step back and re-evaluate. |
WhiteFlash for President. |
I can literally just attack move towards soviet base with grens and be assured of winning unless the soviet player has found some green cover to hide behind. Wow much skill, so tactic. I would've hated to play germans before this if this counts as "raising the skill level".
Post the replay of this vs a competent player and I'll believe. |
Agreed with the OP. Too many soviet players are just used to swarming a map with infantry, neglecting cover, and winning.
This patch is a MASSIVE step in the right direction for COH2 but of course there will be more adjustments in the future such as pios im sure. For once a patch that raises the skill level a bit instead of lowering it, and that goes for both factions. Of course scrub players who nub'd their way to the top of the ladder will hate it. I hope to see more patches like this in the future. |
So what is the benefit of running in windowed mode with full window over just plain full screen? |
I have a GTX780 and I did game at 1920X1200 and it ran COH2 perfectly. I'm now using the same card for 2560X1440 and it has no problem with it there either. That is with everything maxxed, low AA (you dont need more and wont see a difference), and vsync off.
GTX 770 is old architecture Nvidia reused from the GTX 680, dont bother with it. GTX 780 and above is newer architecture.
Maxwell (next gen Nvidia) high end cards are not slated til either end of the year or early next year. |
