I still feel like the tournament was played before the Ostheer started to counter the Soviet play. There were obviously some things out of wack, but it was not un-winnable.
That said, the gren-spamming from Germans, into PIVs is not exactly an exciting metagame either...
BTW, does HTD still stack with cover modifiers? I wish they would hotfix that and the Assault Support Commander's Strafe (sound like a broken record I know).
I would agree that German weapon teams do not need the extra man, and that I would rather see Soviet teams decreased in size, or small arms buffed across the board.
Furthermore, with a general nerf to the Maxim, I am not sure what distinguishes it from the MG42, apart from that it has far worse suppression and a much smaller arc of fire. I feel that set up time, and the ability to act as normal while pinned should have been lowered/changed respectively, dps was not the issue (How will t2 deal with P Grens with lower maxim dps and slower mortar fire?)
Aimstrong was pushed off the field, but still retained his entire army and resources (~200 fuel).
As mentioned in the cast, Sepha threw away his FHT as well. If that unit had lived, Aimstrong's entirely infantry-based army would have had to proceed far more cautiously. He lost the initiative with that vehicle loss.
Edit,
Also a faster Ostheer T3 would have applied further pressure on Aimstrong. If you actually had a less negative outlook on the game, you would know that a heavy-pIV style mid-game is very strong, even against this so called "uber" unit (especially with a commander that offers defensive smoke), and would have further capitalised on his "owning the entire map". Sepha neglected to capitalise on a potential tech-advantage, and that was a big part of why he lost.
I bet Ostheer will be really OP after this next patch unless Soviets are buffed in other areas. Try using a doctrine that doesn't have HTD/Shocks and don't make M3s or T70. The way it is right now flanking isn't rewarding at all because rifles are pathetic at close range. Even molotovs aren't very good against someone that isn't stupid enough to stand in them.
Which was kind of my point in my first post, I think everyone fears the same. The overwhelming balance cries are against the Soviets at this point, but at least the more sensible people limit it to M3s (then bugs/oversights like HtD stacking with cover).
Without HtD/PPshs, conscripts are just a constant manpower drain past the 10 minute mark. Perhaps though more Penal Battalions will be built, could be interesting.
