Thread: Russians get the greatest AT & ARTY gun out of T1?9 Jul 2013, 08:02 AM The main problem with the SU85 is that it provides its own line of sight up to its max range. No other long range unit (bar immobile Elefants and even that could/should be changed) does that. It lets it use/abuse its first strike bonus from range vs. every German non-Elefant armor even without proper scouting. This ultimately allows its support units to sit much farther back than they had to stay back for supporting other units. This causes the problem that taking out its support units is a lot harder, which otherwise would allow for better flanking opportunities with AT guns/Panzerschrecks/Panzer4s. This in turn would allow for the Panzer4's armor (or other stats) to be adjusted slightly down, which would make the T34 and the Stug more viable. Because of this I'd suggest changing its focused view ability (and maybe also that of the Elefant, I guess) either to a smaller range OR make it an ability that has a duration of 10 or so seconds (time for two shots) and costs a medium amount of munitions. Thread: General Questions and Information concerning CoH29 Jul 2013, 07:35 AM Ostheer kinda plays like Wehrmacht and the Soviets kinda play like US. At least when they fix the current cheesy stuff. They function the same as US/Wehr in certain areas and variate in others but their base concept is very similar to the vCoH factions. When you're talking about US/Wehr you're probably thinking about the MGs and flanking early game play of vCoH. That does no (yet?) really exist here. But I hope we'll reach it. And yeah, they removed the old factions because this game plays on the eastern front (Moscow, Stalingrad) whereas CoH1 plays on the western front (France, Belgium). In: COH2 Gameplay

Having a 50% chance to not take damage from a bullet is really a lot more high stakes with so little hp. Miss your 50% roll a few times and you're dead... four Mosin bullets is all it takes... Thread: Beware of your planes lololol8 Jul 2013, 20:58 PM It is especially funny because the mg turret on the tanks is somehow better at shooting down airplanes than the Ostwind and the M5. Plus this is an IL-2. Ever tried shooting down one of those in War thunder? It takes ages in that game and the IL-2 really had ridiculous armor compared to most other aircraft of that time. Thread: New Maps & Observation - Repair Station8 Jul 2013, 19:58 PM I find the healing stations interesting. As long as they are placed in a position that would normally be not as important they could be a great way for the players to save healing upgrades and their enemies to deny them healing. But as I said they should be in areas of the map that would otherwise be less important/unimportant. Putting a healing/repair station in positions where a player can dig in and still control important sectors nearby could end in a too campy match. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Snipers = Useless ?8 Jul 2013, 15:40 PM Infantry have 80 hitpoints each. Even the sniper. He just has 2 armor, which makes him take half damage from small arms. So in theory he can take the same amount of small arms fire as the two Soviet snipers. However, if something overkills the first model the German sniper would take the overkill damage just as well so this doesn't work out. He is also super weak vs. explosions flames etc. that all one shot him because his armor doesn't work against them. Plus explosions normally do 80++ damage so he is always one-shot. Furthermore, the Soviet sniper vet ability (sprint) further increases their survivability. I'd rather see him have 160 health... After all he is a super fit elite soldier, right? The perk of the German sniper is that he cloaks faster and keeps his cloak for 2 seconds or so after leaving cover. So in theory he could be very interesting to use but basically nobody has the micro to keep him alive and he has to kill a huge number of soldiers to be worth his manpower cost (cheap reinforce on nearly all Soviet inf). Except the Elefant with spotting scope (limited to stationary, costs ammo and STILL bad design) no other unit gets to do that. If it were a timed ability that cost munitions it wouldn't be a problem. But long range units providing their own line of sight up to their max range runs completely contrary to the combined arms design in other aspects of the game. AT guns don't provide their own massive line oft sight either. They should just change the SU-85 focused sight and the spotting scope upgrade. This would make engagements that involve SU-85s and Elefants much more dynamic so people would actually have to send a few units forward to scout instead of just having them sit next to the long range unit doing nothing. I cannot confirm this from stats. Most weapons (including mortars/artillery) have a FoW angle and a FoW distance multiplier of 1.25. I think this means that both the scatter angle and scatter max get increased by 25% when firing into the FoW (blind). This is why they are less accurate by barraging/ground attacking into the FoW/unspotted targets. In: COH2 Gameplay
