Kappa. -Feuersturm commander changes entrenching the problematic nature of volks stock STG upgrade. -How the effects of altering USF major tier in a such massive ways seems to have been utterly buried. The Jackson changes overall seeming like they were halfway through testing before moving onto commanders and other stuff. Then the sherman dozer upgrade was added somewhere in there. -Riflemen losing smoke to REs. I'm kind of okay with officers having smoke but that only serves to further entrench the issue USF has with officer squads and tech. -Elefants and jagdtiger damage reduction in the face of new jacksons and shermans getting an upgrade to boost health. ... I mean all of these essentially coalesce around a sentiment that there are a number of seemingly untested and/or reactionary changes, i.e. luchs build time change. In: Lobby
Thread: [DBP] Riflemen smoke survey11 Dec 2017, 16:00 PM Because USF really needed an excuse to have more infantry squads pushing the front... Giving officers smoke I had no problem with, but the only scenario I can think of where rifles losing smoke isn't a bad idea is if their at nades were unlocked with research instead of vet. Making the ISU entity that populates the ISU squad have the ability only under the circumstances of the tank hunter commander is a little more convoluted. Essentially the ISU unit and squad would have to be cloned, given, or stripped of, the unique abilities. And then tied to a callin ability for that commander, entirely separate from other ISU instances. Totally feasible, but the exact kind if bloating process that is at the root of so many imbalances and inconsistencies that these patches are ostensibly trying to fix. The grens that come with an lmg42 in a 250 HT as a callin are an example of this. It'd be easier to just give the tank hunters commander the existing ISU callin, but modify the shell switching ability so it's not available for tank hunter doc. In: COH2 Balance

Although the ability to switch shells could just be tied to a requirement of specific commanders as an alternative. Still, that kind of stuff is a major opportunity for something to go screwy between balance patch version and implementation. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Volksgrenadiers [DBP] 8 Dec 2017, 17:36 PM Incidentally 3 mp40s and 2 stgs actually works well on volks as an assault unit package. Gives them the damage output they need, but eliminates their ability to operate effectively at range. But alas the mp40s are only for a feuerstorm upgrade, and the stgs are likely here to stay as-is. That feuerstorm upgrade probably solidifies the current stock stg upgrade on volks. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: The correct way to pay mechanized assault late game?6 Dec 2017, 22:39 PM Assault grenadiers don't have panzerfausts. Many players will capitalize on this the moment they see an assault gren. By not having t1, you lose out on having a snare to disable enemy vehicles. Lategame you can potentially use panzerwerfers instead of mortars, but getting to that lategame without mortars might be more challenging than necessary. I from time to time skip t1 and sneak teller mines everywhere I can, but only in teamgames. In: Ostheer Strategies
Thread: [DBP] Luftwaffe Ground Forces feedback thread6 Dec 2017, 19:50 PM The only cost effective use I've ever found for falls have been to infiltrate near katyushas. After that moment they operate like slightly worse/more expensive stg obers... that don't get that bonus v cover. Expensive, situational, and mostly underwhelming. Patadropping them is a change I like, but it may very well eliminate the above mentioned scenario from being where they're useful. Spending 200 munitions to be able to temporarily spend manpower seems like it will be highly underwhelming. I'll have to test and see just how many falls can actually reinforce while that ability is active this weekend. I just don't see it being that useful... unless youre... timing assaults with unreinforced squads? In: COH2 Balance
