+1 to everything Inverse said. Also I don't know if anyone else has issues with this, but the snow is so white on the "winter" maps that my eyes are usually bloodshot red and watering like a mofo in as little as 20 minutes even with the brightness turned down a bit. I can play other games for several hours in a dark room before this starts to happen. There needs to be at the very least an option for a blue'ish tint to the snow, even though I want to its hard to get back playing this game because my limited play sessions are rarely longer than 2 games (3 max) because of my eyes.
PS: Back when I was playing vcoh competitively on a laptop that got 15-30fps, the camera panning still felt crisper than it does in CoH2 when its running 30-50fps. |
Imo its hard to save up mp to get a howi. Wouldnt it be better if they cost ammo instead, maybe 350 or 400 ammo? Im not an engineer but I think they shoot ammo also so it would make sense.
Maybe this would make howi-commanders a bit more viable?
Everything shoots ammo. But it would make more sense if they costed 400-500mp and some fuel (~80) instead. |

You make it sound as if ImperialDane is some evil Danish King. Isn't it enough criticism for one day already? But kings usually keep their neck beards trimmed I thought |
WFA was a breath of fresh air when it came out but its getting stale for me. Its not even really the current blobby nature, but the fact that forward reinforcement is so critical to both factions that is really killing it for me. I like it when there is a lull in the action for a few a minutes with some suspense over where the next large attack will be and what new units you and the opponent are going to bring to the table. OKW healing truck and US Major+ambulance equates to a anticlimatic and seamless stream of units, lots of the games I play are just one really long engagement with either US winning early or OKW barely hanging on until Obersoldaten and KT hit the field and tip the scale.

Lol balance issues will never be a reason for a game not being an esport. Every "esport" has had patches where some unit(s) were completely OP but the competitive players worked around it rather than uninstalling.
These are reasons why game isn't an esport:
1) RNG has really high potential to turn games immediately. Full HP heavy tank getting engine destroyed from one faust or AT nade is the best example. Even though Dota 2 has RNG, the worst case scenario dice roll is no where near as crippling as a worst case CoH2 dice roll.
2) No spectator tools/obs mode
3) WFA is interesting but the doctrine design from the original factions was and still is horrendous
4) Super heavy tanks make the game lamer than CoH1 for a few reasons. Tanks like Elefant and ISU have too much range and not enough agility. Just park them in the back and rape stuff. CoH1 heavies had long'ish range and slow'ish speed, but they were fast enough to be more rewarding to good micro players rather than simply parking them in the back of the map. Also the fact that you can get multiple of them but at the cost of fuel makes the mid-late game less diverse. Lots of players favor saving to spam the end game units rather than choosing which T3/T4 units to make.
5) No ladder league/season system. You have to come here just to check your stats ffs
Even if all that stuff was addressed I think CoH is too niche of a title to be an "esport" but it might be enough to make the game a worthy successor in the eyes of the vcoh vets that stopped playing coh2

You're in! I'm going to send everyone a PM to confirm and ask a couple questions. |
We got 9 |
That is a non-turreted doctrinal unit. Big difference.
The turret on the KT is so slow to rotate its basically useless once stuff is behind it anyway. |
| Avg. Players July 2014 | Avg. Players June 2014 |
Company of Heroes 2 | 5,547.7 | 4,027.6 |
Age of Empires II: HD Edition | 3,310.6 | 3,325.0 |
Still pretty sad that the numbers are that close considering one of the games is a year old, the other like 10? |
