you can bring your PC to dorm, a few guys i know, does it. Thou it is practical to have a laptop instead. ( you can study in bed ^^) I know you can but I don't want to, I'm a closet PC gamer and that sounds really lame. Plus I want a laptop instead. In: Scrap Yard |

NO OVERSEAS SHIPPING. US+CANADA ONLY Don't feel like taking my desktop with me to my dorm in two months here are the specs: -i5 4430 -HD6850 1GB -Gskill Ripjaws 8gb ram -EVGA 750w -1TB Seagate HDD -ASUS Z87 LGA 1150 mobo -Rosewill Galaxy 2 case -Webcam, keyboard, mouse, windows 8 disc set, Turtle Beach X12 headphones* *I assume most people already have the peripherals, but just in case I spent somewhere between $800 and $900 on all this shit almost a year ago. It runs some games smoothly maxed out, most games run smoothly with medium-highish settings. CoH2 runs kinda meh, blame shitty optimization. At one point it was running very smoothly on medium settings but it seems like they actually de-optimized the game in the last 6 months. Anyway with 8gb ram a 750w PSU and my CPU, the only thing holding this back from being a high end machine is just a graphics card upgrade. I'm still debating whether or not I'm going to trash my hard drive. For now I want $600 but if I decide to keep my HDD I will deduct for that. PM or respond here if interested. In: Scrap Yard |

snip You're wrong broseph, do you even CoH? Non turreted vehicles will rotate in place to engage enemies that are in range. The only circumstance for a vehicle pursuing is you gave an attack order on a unit that is not in range. It will only pursue until it is barely within range, where it will park until the target leaves your max range again. If you lose vision on the target the tank sits there and will not aimlessly drive in to the fog of war. In: COH2 Gameplay |

Solution 4: Limit 1 heavy tank at a time per player, but remove fuel cost. This way building T3/T4 units mid-late game is not discouraged since it will not delay the super heavies. Also prevents super late game call-in spam. The other options don't stop the late game heavy spam it only slows it down. With one heavy at a time (and for no fuel) its also still encouraged to make T3 and T4 units even after your call-ins are unlocked for more support rather than saving up for double (or even triple) heavies, which would inevitably happen in longer games. Requiring a tier building only slows you down a few minutes but it doesn't encourage you to actually use the building. Just make it and save the rest for heavies. In fact it usually wouldn't even delay the first heavy at all since most people already have more than enough fuel for it by the time they have the CP requirement. It would just slow the second heavy. As far as the Tiger Ace goes, people just use the no fuel as an excuse for getting caught with their pants down when there is zero reason to be unprepared at that point in the game. Its not the GG unit it was when it came out, not even close. Having multiple Tigers is better than just one Ace. In: Lobby |

The dream is real!!! Thats debatable. A lot of people would still save to spend fuel on the heavy call-ins and requiring a building doesn't change that. They should be limited to one at a time (at least the better ones) and have zero fuel cost, that way they support the units you choose to make in game rather than being your main armor force. Thread: Civilization Vi Beyond Earth31 Oct 2014, 03:14 AM
20 hours in w/ 3 playthroughs (2 of them on accelerated pace) here's my review: As its own game Civ6 is pretty decent, but measured against its predecessor there isn't much reason to upgrade right now. Most of the mechanics are the same with a few being renamed (happiness is now health, social policies are now virtues). The espionage system is pretty cool though I haven't played the fully upgraded Civ5 yet so not sure if much was added there. Quests are like the missions from Total War it gives you a task with a reward at the end except unlike TW there are several active quests at one time and not just one. The main difference is the affinity system. There are 3 styles, one is like human master race, one is becoming more alien-like species, and one is robotic in nature. Affinity system sounds cool in theory but its not all what you would expect. You do not advance by how play the game (whether you kill aliens or not) but advancement is tied mostly to your technologies with some extra coming from rewards for completing quests. Certain technologies in the web award points towards one of the affinities. You aren't forced to one affinity, you can have points in multiple but your dominant affinity determines your units appearance. It is most rewarding to stick with mostly one affinity though since the combat unit upgrades are based by reaching certain levels in that specific affinity. The basic infantry gets their first affinity upgrade at level 6 or 7. If you split it, your military is going to be weak since you won't be leveling up your troops as fast. But if your spies steal a random technology that comes with another affinity, thats fine. For example I was Purist on my last playthrough and a spy stole a tech with Supremacy points in it, which advanced my Supremacy level and as a result I no longer had to pay upkeep on my roads/rails (because they do give some other bonuses besides unit upgrades). When your unit upgrades they all instantly upgrade on the field in that turn, and there is only 4 levels for most units meaning that each upgrade is more significant than in Civ5. The bottom line is even though the web would make you think "oh cool lots of options" you have to keep working towards getting ones with a common affinity so your army stays relevant as the game progresses. Also the fact that the upgrades are steeper and happen instantly in the field for all of that unit type, wars can change drastically really fast. I enjoyed the game enough to spend the last 3 days playing the hell out of it, but then I remembered Civ5 was a thing so now I'm reinstalling that. I'm crossing my fingers that the DLC expansions will change how the military tech and affinity system works. Pros -Pretty -Better trade system imo -Aliens and Miasma (toxic gas) are cool mechanics. Much better than Barbarians. -Quests -More tile upgrades Cons -Tech web is a jumbled mess and should not be intertwined with your affinities -No faction unique units -AI is lame -Military units upgrade instantly in the field for free ![]() Grade: C+ In: Other Games |
