Cons being able to not be totally worthless late game is still a poor reason to build them in the first place, when so many better options exist. Even if I'm going T2, one con squad at most handles weapon caps and marges and sandbags. Otherwise, maxims and a mortar into guards or shocks.
Penals and Guards are so generalist, all purpose elite infantry that the 'versatile' conscripts just do not bring enough to warrant including them in an army mix.
They had to be able to cover all bases for years because cons were garbage outside some commander gimmicks. But now somebody is willing to address how garbage they are, its sad that it cannot be in the context of a wider overhaul of soviet infantry, giving them specialist roles so that the generalist conscript can be a worthwhile investment.
Guards and penals both bring all the AI, AT, snare and demolitions you ever need. Sure, cons can now stick around longer, and trade with infantry that is charging towards them while they stand stationary in cover, but that's hardly a big sell compared to the firepower that your alternatives bring with no real downsides. |
Brits are already strugglinng with their lack of stock units to fill certain roles
Splitting the brits into two half armies with even less choice is not going to help.
Not to mention that under that proposal nobody is ever going to use anything but hammer.
IS Bolster, the near mandatory AEC, a non doc mortar, the entirity of the centaur? Literally no point to pick anvil. |
I think you're underestimating the additional strength of the artillery flares. The vision range increase on mainline is a huge deal.
Medic sections are still an early game necessity and the hideous build time on the forward assembly make base healing a hard sell, but being able to tough it up and invest gives your army some fantastic line of sight.
At least in the more tightly packed 2v2 and up I get a lot out of limiting myself to one or two medic sections.
Regardless - any solution that makes brit healing harder to proc is going to be a damn hard sell. Dropping kits is all well and good, but the proposal still encorages just adding a self heal passive to every infantry section and makes it even mkre painful to heal AT guns and MGs
If you want to address it, giving brits a base object they can make into a medic station without teching, buying a RE squad, and then spending half an age building a forward assembly is the start point. |
I don't like his ideas and he's got some information wrong, but man does it bug me that the army known for their high volume of submachine gun usage tends to sit on the low end of SMG use unless you spam PPSh Cons or Shock Troops.
Relic got their Soviet army design right out of Enemy at the Gates.
Be thankful that they gave every comscript a rifle, at least. |
I don't MIND that it got a nerf to its armour so much. It makes the upgrades a much more suspect deal, but hopefully they will allow it it to have the old values back after it upgrades? I can dream.
The bit that I object to is that is has less armour, so takes more chip damage, and ALSO they made self repair more expensive for some BS 'gotta trade with fausts' when button and smoke have been unbalanced for so long
Brits dont start with engineers
Brits can't BUY engineers without unlocking a tech tier
The latter makes it totally worthless to buy a UC before you have T1. And as an ultra light, there's no point buying it then anyway.
There's so little reason now to ever do anything besides buy an extra section and bolster before you T1. |
I think it should be a bit more vulnerable to small arms than it is currently now considering it does not cost any fuel and only manpower like Kubel. Maybe increase it slightly more the chances of damaging it with small arms since it feels somewhat impenetrable unless you use Submachine guns.
The Kubel caps, has shared veterancy, and gets 5 levels of generally fantastic veterancy bonuses to let it do everything from suppress passively to self repair for free to maphack
UC price to repair nerf while the kubel can do it free make brits sad |
30 ammo for a pioneer, 45 for a Royal Engineer? Seems arbitrarily harsh.
I also never want to see 5 man sturmpios, thanks. |
Everything about that ability is bugged. |
It gets those upgrades, and more, via veterancy. Which it never used to have. |
I would have hoped the balance team learned from the msitakes of lelic, but no.
Not only suddenly nerf a unit but do it in a massive way that makes the unit totally obsolete.
UC no longer forces german AT. It is way more vulnerable to small arms and the DPS from the vickers needs T1 to invest in. It costs even MORE muni to keep it repaired, and you can't start with sappers, so you WILL have to spend on it. The upgrades are now even less cost efficient because they are on a weaker chassis, as if the wasp wasn't already a dead unit.
There's basically no reason to get one now. Brit openings are now either Sections into Bolster... or sections into bolster. If you feel super spicy, maybe an MG.
What fun it promises to be. |
