No matter if Kimbo actually ghosted or not, but acting up the way he did even tho he was well aware the he got a conditional entry (and therefore had "high priority on the watchlist") was just completely reckless and embarrassing, and he got punished for it. Nothing wrong with that IMO.
It's a shame tho cuz losing tourney players in such a way is completely unnecessary and could be avoided easily. And not gonna lie, I think the upcoming Kimbo GCS2 matches would have been pretty exciting to watch
The way I see it this is natural selection, we're not after the best automatch player we're after the best compeititve tournament player. Someone that has the mental fortitude to survive on the grand stage of our first organised dedicated live event tournament.
Stuve showed he didn't care, Kimbo showed an embarrassing level of misjudgement. Both were also soundly beaten by the traditional tournament heavyweights Luvnest and Jesulin.
On the plus side, we did get to see both in the tournament, and it was awesome. I wish Stuve hadn't refused to play his 3rd place match, and I wish Kimbo hadn't trolled so stupidly, but those things did happen. Now we lost two 'personalities' and the likes of Refero and Siddolio have a better chance to qualify to let's face it watch DevM vs. Luvnest again etc... (probably).
After allowing the referees time to digest, discuss and vote upon it, and seeing that it matches my own belief, and the overwhelming majority of GCS2 benefactor opinions - Kimbo has been DQd from GCS2 and his points no longer stand.
Let it be known that the official reason he has been DQd from GCS2 is for telling 200+ people on VonIvan's 22nd July stream that he ghosts (stream cheats) and that he has been ghosting during GCS2.
(The fact Relic have also timebanned him from the game is parallel and separate to this decision.)
To put it simply even if kimbo claims he was 'trolling', his constant remarks have ensured the entire community now consider him a cheat.
As this is a community ran and funded tournament, it is absolutely improper that someone that is widely considered a stream cheat would be allowed to play in our biggest ever event. He is therefore disqualified from doing so.
This coming weekend the final FIVE spaces for GCS2 will be decided as one person wins the final tournament and the players have their vital last chance to win GCS2 points and earn their sport.
This is a full schedule of streams and structure for GCS2 Qualification Tournament 4: 'Bagration'.
On both days the games will start at 14:00 BST, to check your timezone please see the GCS2 Schedule

Day 1 - Saturday 28th July - 14:00 BST
Bracket quarters go 1 -> 4 downward, based on an example bracket that looks like this. Final brackets to be released on GCS2.ORG following check ins.
Players featured depend on check-ins, the numbers in brackets are seeds.
If you see a round 1 or round 2 match that needs to be live cast please feel free to pick it up.
State below if you plan on running a secondary stream!
However: Please only cast those games. The quarter finals are reserved for the above casters, thank you for helping!
RUNon-English language streams
I would like to request that only countries with low percentage understanding of English have a non-English language stream where possible? This is because our community is rather small and I want to ensure very little overlap. For example:
We would like one well produced show, with both semis, 3rd place play off, and final to be shown in order. With all viewers in one channel it'll get us noticed on Twitch and help our scene grow also!
As a side note, I feel Noggano deserves some sort of honorary recognition for at least winning a Quali while having no way of coming to the actual live event because of bs world politics.
The 5th - 8th place prize pool is $200. This is given at the start of the event to also help with expenses (taxis, breakfast etc.) Noggano got $100 outright.
I am up for doing something honorary later down the line but need to know who's qualifying first so budget can be more fixed.
I see how that can be frustrating. As a fan and a viewer - the show has been great so far. For the first time in a long time, we have an event going great with almost no drama from a viewers perspective. Personally, I didn't even realize any of this even happened until your post.
As a former staff referee and former event organizer here, I can relate to the frustrations of organizing these events and all the time and effort that goes with it (although not to your level). I don't think there is a referee on staff who hasn't had some sort of drama in an event. With that said; I think sometimes we get so caught up in the production aspect of things, we lose sight of the big picture. For us, its a small community gathering around to enjoy high iq games and each others jerkoff-company.
I thank you for opening this to discussion and hope you reconsider.
I don't disagree with anything you've said.
If it was a smaller tournament with less at stake it he would probably have had a warning and that's it.
It isn't a small tournament though, it's for a huge prize pool, and therefore forfeiting without a good reason is way more of an issue as is anti-competitive behaviour of the highest order.
Also from a respect standpoint the amount of work and effort from players, fans, and organisers etc means that we can't have people just forfeiting like that and also making the points system look like a joke. It's just not right, and is unfair to everyone involved.
You got to see Stuve play some good matches, but he clearly doesn't respect the organised competition element, so it's not the end of the world for him or you his fan.
Was Stuve banned from the qualifier or the entire tournament? I hope in the spirit of great competition he is around. Many people enjoy watching his high iq plays.
Stuve was banned from GCS2 in total.
To further clarify what happened:
Upon agreeing a time to play his match, a time of his choosing, Stuve then said he would no longer play that match and forfeit. His reason being that the match wasn't being live cast. We told him it was being saved for Tightrope to cast after, he still refused. He then played PUBG.
Does this seem like the actions of a player that is respecting the tournament that people have pledged 13,000 USD in prize money to create? No.
At this point in the process the GCS2 points situation is supposed to be seen to really start to matter, Stuve made them look completely worthless and by association made GCS2 look worthless.
Stuve forfeit any right to play in GCS2, I had top benefactors and fans of his stream tell me something needed to be done about it, all the referees that discussed it agreed on the course of action (5 referees total), and so the obvious action was taken.
On a personal point I'll add that I thought his game 1 vs. Jesuiln was the best of GCS2 so far, but we can't have players that forfeit important matches like that, it makes a mockery of the competition.
This is how world respect russians, thay open all gates and hole for football tourists and now, oppositon players (jove and Noggano) can not get visa ?
