Ad 1: So running away while hoping to keep distance and at the same time fight the chasing enemy isnt well working. Ad 2: So a flank or rear attack does give indeed some initial advantage if done outside of the viewing cone. Nice! In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: shooting backwards?3 Oct 2022, 09:23 AM Hi guys maybe u can help me with two questions: Question 1: Squad A is moving away from enemy squad B which starts to follow. Squad B can shoot forwards at squad A because it is moving forwards. Can squad A shoot squad B backwards while moving forwards? If so, is there a malus (it is obviously harder to shoot backwards)? Question 2: If a squad changes targets, let's say: from shooting a target in front of it to a target behind, does this target change happens instantly or is it connected to a delay (some one or two seconds). I see that the figures sometimes turn slowly so I am wondering if this is a graphic issue or a game feature. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: AutoHotkey Skript - not working anymore31 Jul 2021, 07:00 AM Hi guys, Sinces ages I have been using the AutoHotkey skript (a little support prg which let u rebind ur keys) without any probs. Now, after the recent patch I observe something strange: if I start the skript and then start coh2, the skript app is closed and the skript file itself is automatically deleted (at least I cannot find it anymore). Does anyone have an idea what is going on? Was there some change in the patch which could cause such a wierd behaviour? In: COH2 Gameplay

It's an arcade RTS, and they could have easily slapped any names on any weapons and still pass it as WW2 stuff. Right now, the stats in the game are good for the game mechanics intended within CoH. I disagree. While coh is certainly not a "ultra realistic simulation" its great sound, fine graphics and chosen setting do create some immersive vibe for the majority of customers. And no, they could have not "just slapped any names on any weapon". There are reasons for example why the Panther has stronger armor than the pz4 or why smgs dont hit well on long ranges. Of course there always need to be compromises between gameplay and realism but coh is certainly not designed in an arbitrary context nor would it work in one. A certain plausibility in regard to the historical setting is clearly part of the design idea. In: COH2 Gameplay

We all know that it is not a simulation. This doesnt mean that certain concepts of reality cannot or should not be incorporated. That being said I would agree that the stu44 (short/mid) and the g43 (mid/long) are rather well portaited in comparison to their rl counterparts. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Infantry shooting direction explained15 Jan 2021, 19:22 PM Hi folks, I have two gameplay question you certainly can help to answer: 1. Does it matter in what direction normal infantry faces in the moment of contact? Example 1: unit is moving North and suddenly an enemy unit appears behind. The unit stops and starts fighting. It seems that the individual men slowly turn towards the enemy and open fire with some little delay. Example 2: unit A is chasing unit B. Unit A fires on the move as the target is obviously in front of them. What does unit B do? Can they shoot backwards while running in the opposite direction? Do they shoot with some malus? Do they shoot at all? 2. Lets assume I have an inf squad shooting a target 35m away. The line of sight is given. In between are obstacles like a car (a) , little stonewall (b) or a small hill/height (c). Visually I see some bullets going into those obstacles. Is this just cosmetic or does it decrease the damage efficiency? In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Returning to CoH2 - Recent faction changes explained10 Oct 2019, 19:32 PM Hi folks, I just returned to playing CoH2 after some time off and see that there have been implemented quite some changes. For example, I see that Panzergrenadiere are now t0 and Genadiers at t1, quite the opposite to what is was in the past. Have Panzergrenadiers been nerfed or Genadiers buffed? As far as I see from the costs there isnt much of a change... In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Fallschirmjäger FG42 rifle- animation change?13 Sep 2019, 17:20 PM Hi there, no balance issue, just an immersion one. Is there a reason why the FG42 shoots like a SMG ingame? As far as I know it was a full sized battle rifle with the same caliber as the Kar98. In CoH1 the FG42 was rather well represented: Bar-like rate of fire and more punch per shot than a SMG. Woudnt it be cool if CoH2 followed the same approach? I mean, we have already so many SMG units available while semi&full automatic battle rifles arent there too many. Thread: Question on repairing a tank with damaged engine25 Dec 2018, 19:57 PM Hi there, I just watched a coh2 vid on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fACbuGma1e8 At 12:33 u see a russian light tank T-70 which gets its damaged engine instanty repaired despite having health below 100%. So far I assumed that damaged parts of a vehicle can only be repaired if the HP are at 100%. Is this premise wrong? Has the repair procedure always been that way? Or was it changed in one of the recent patches? Or do I miss a unit feature of the engineers or the T-70? In: COH2 Gameplay
