As it is t34s and y34/85s need a slight buff , either in stats or in the form of a decent vet1 ability or a small cost reduction , unfortunately ram with the distances involved is awkward and high risk to use added to the low penetration of both t34 tanks and the hudini abilities of th p4s ( blit + smoke ) means your likely to loose a t34 more often than you ll kil the p4 even with a superior tank force .

As it is now getting a p4 costs with all buildings and upgrades purchased and built about sth like 225-235 fuel in total while a t34/76 costs 215-225 and that is without upgrading either mollies or at nades ( sb might need to do the math again as i dont have the costs readilly available and might be missing sth ) . Factor in the mp drain which is usually larger for the soviets and the fact that german tech is easier to develop since upgrading to the next phase can be done while the pio is away capping , fighting etc and soviet buildings taking significantly longer than OST and the result you get is either a fast p4 even before t34 has arrived or a simultaneous arrival of the 2 tanks but with the OST having a better combined arms force .

yes I've seen most of the SNF games.
you can go ask any of the top16 who lost and no one will surely blame rng but their own strat/playing.
and soviets won plenty of games

alert the authors of oxford dictionary department , apparently 4 means plenty , also i highly doubt youve seen all of replays in a weekend. And just to clarify , there were 100 ++ games if we multiply that by 30 minutes each its 3000 minutes or 50 hrs of replay time at minimum !! even if you speed it up you will need at least 10hrs of replay watching . So bottomline stop pulling stuff out of your ass you havent seen most of snf games . And yes there were players in the top 16 who did loose in part due to rng in fact i ve heard one of them saying it .

So the fact that every person with a vp lead chose ostheer apparently means nothing to you.

If RNG decided games there would be some random nobody in the SNF games today, instead of the ladder leaders

When there is a clear big difference in skill RNG plays a smaller role and that is the case with SNF especially untill R3 , after that in this snf it was mainly who got their hands on germans in the last game based on vps

Because a guard squad does 18.334 dps max while a penal battalion does 34.674 dps max. Penals are good AI and have an ability that can get squad kills.


*Those numbers aren't quite right I don't think because adding the flamethrower according to the stats page would lower the max dps. Does the stats page not account for criticals in dps numbers?

they are also a lot more survivable and their nades are great , so in the short run you can get enough out of guards its in the long run they will cost more munis , but possibly less mp too

But joker.... guards are enough to keep light armour away from your penals. By the time the p4 hits, you should have an SU.

nope they are not in fact if you dont have a cons squad to at nade or a mine to bait your guards will be crisps . which means at nades as well as mollies , you need 50 fuel for that plus another 40 for t1 and 90 for t4 makes 180 plus the fuel a su85 needs not to mention that guards + penals cost 720mp which is a lot , by that time your facing a large combined arms force with deminishing map control unless you go t1t2 , but in that case you ll be facing 2 p4s .

I'm one of the few people who is of the mind that penal battalions (from a gameplay standpoint) do what they are supposed to do. With the flamethrower upgrade, they can 1v1 any German squad.

i d like to aggree but the amount of criticals that happen in this game really turns things arround , your flamethrower might do its job and kill those pgs but if it doesnt pgs will quickly mop you up . Compare that with schocks who are guaranteed to kill pg everytime and are far more survivable , dont need munitions to be useful and cost 80 mp more and you get my point .

The big advantage of penals is that you can merge with conscripts without any penalty but the ammount of squads that die in this game and the fact that they deie so fast really nulifies that .
