Ostheer's mainline infantry unit has a LMG and faust and Ostheer has literally the worst early game of any faction. In what insane world do you think it's a brilliant idea to take a well preforming infantry unit, and make it just like the starting unit of the only other Axis faction.
The Pupchen should be buffed no matter if shreks are removed or not, as the thing is bloody garbage anyway you slice it. And I agree that Volks can't face M3's, you know why? Because pushing is a insanely dumb mechanic!
I don't think Grens with LMG and faust ability to be weak at all. You forgetting that VGs are a 5 man squad and are cheap to reinforce. |
Volks get beat out by every single baseline infantry unit in the game stat wise, of course at vet 0 which is the early game everyone starts in. And yes volks with commander upgrades are better, but still they can't stand up to Shocks/Rifle blobs alone.
The reason they scale so well dude is because they vet so fast due to 1. very lost cost unit, and 2. They have a very high damage weapon in the shrek. Take the shrek away and they are not nearly as good due to not being able to get vet.
What shreks have to do is that it gives volks a reason to be built as opposed to say, more sturms or getting a second kubel. It also makes them useful late game as well. The problem is if you take away the thing that makes it good over the arch of the game, you need to give it something worth while to make people want to build it! And OKW has the same troubles Ostheer has early game, and especially on urban maps as OKW has no mortar/good indirect fire.
If you use a grenade you critically put back your first shrek, and Volks lose out to cons at medium close range every time. Yes they become more useful later on, so why take away what makes them better later on.
You dont necessarily have to give a cheap mainline infantry Shreks. Yes, Volks will be less spamed if you take the shreks away BUT you can give them either LMG or MPs with faust ability. With faust, OKW will have more of a reason to use Raket(assuming a buff after change) to finish off slowed down vehicles. The underlying problem Volks faces in early game is that they need faust, 1 shrek can hardly hold off M3s. |
It hurts my head to even think about Truck pushing as a meta in COH2. How low have we gotten? |
When is enemy medium armour ever by itself?
Any decent opponent won't push his armour forward without support. You can expect AT nades (and therefore engine crit) from soviet, and Jackson just destroys Puma, even without support
Also as Alex said, Puma doesn't do well pen'ing frontal armour. It's only really decent on rear armour of medium tanks
Obviously I am not going to have my Puma unsupported either. Yes AT nades are problem for those n00bs who move in their Puma's like P4 or KT. Puma is a recon vehicle that should be kept at range against infantry and armor. The whole point of the unit is to kite medium with long range and do damage.
Yes Jackson can out do damage but you can get pounce on them with a surprise hit run (again its a recon fast unit for harassment and kiting). Also, keep the shreks by your side when you see a Jackson.
Jaigen, since we are all of full of sh*t, please upload your replay of your God like Axis only skills. |
Its present on watching replays as well you know.
Yea after watching one replay, the game starts to lag bad. |
Yea I think displaying enemies ELO (Skill level) will cause huge amount of drops, there has to be a better way. |
I think they are worth it, double shreks are amazing with medium armor and pak game play. |
Blobing is N00b:
1) No skill A-Move all selected troops
2) Offers no flanking or strategic placing of troops (straight on blob attack).
3) Offers no capping potential
4) Gets crushed by tanks, burnt, kat, demo
5) No micro skill
6) Just dont blob or you will get owned by skilled players

This coming from the guy who thinks Ass grens counter M3's Kappa
Also to all the braindead fools who think the Puma is a counter to Medium tanks - get a clue. When have you EVER seen a Puma beat ANY medium tank WITHOUT SHREK SUPPORT?
Puma is only viable in 1v1, anything above and it is far too vulnerable. Even in 1v1's, Jacksons absolutely destroy the puma, and shermans T34 can still more than stand up to an unsupported Puma. I bet all these people saying Puma is OP have never played a game as OKW and have no idea just how easily it dies.
Puma can kite Medium armor pretty well by itself as long you keep a distance. I have done on numerous occasions and Fortune has done this as well. |
99% of those who whine about stale meta and single unit blobbing loose 99% of their games because of lazy micro, wrong stategic decisions and the lack of awareness. The amount of games, close enough in skill, to be decided by balance difference is much smaller then those make it be.
Its sad, that you loose the joy in playing a game you obviously care enough about to post a thread telling exactly that in gameplay discussion forum.
4 Factions, A shitload of commanders. I don't know about you, but i have around 15 different tactics to approach this game depending on faction choice and the enemy/combination of enemys i see. I'm far from mastering them all. None of those include less then 5 different units. I like those combined arms. And they do work. And yes, sometimes it takes more effort to punish the blob, then to a-move it. But then again, it brings me uberjoy to see those blobs transform into little xp values floating to the sky.
Have fun, whatever you do, and good luck with it!
You said this PERFECTLY! Yes we have blobs now, but I LOL so hard when those blobs get Kat/Sherman over run/demoed/burned! |
