I guess I'm very unlucky then because it happens to me once every 5-6 games or so (that I use the AT gun, yes I keep count).
I do tend to use it a lot tho, constantly moving and shooting things with it (and constantly using the barrage), so maybe my use level is higher and so I tempt fate more often.
What's the rocket arty issue?
I'm referring to how often AT guns get wiped by rocket arty. I used to hate the sounds of the Pwerfer because it seems to wipe too often and make AT guns almost useless. Since I've been playing mostly Ost lately, I hate Katy's even more. |
So basically it's just a gamble that if I use the gun, I may randomly lose it.
Look I'm all for a bit of RNG but this is a bit too much 'namsayin?
Damn shame since I'm a big fan of using the ZiS for bot AI and AT/AV, so knowing a 420 IQ play may in fact be met with the game crapping out is just frustrating.
If it is related to the 6 man squad, is there a potential for a 120mm style workaround with 5 men?
I had a similar bug happen to a pack howie once also. Unfortunately, the pack howie wouldn't fire.
The probability that the bug will happen in any game is probably less than 0.1%. Rocket arty is a much bigger worry. |
The one where after a barrage it no longer functions and you just have to hope the enemy clears it in a way where you can reclaim it.
Is it caused by canceling the barrage? Is there any known way to avoid or at least reduce the odds of it?
It's quite frustrating to deal with because it can result in you losing a potentially important engagement and also losing the entire unit.
No, because it isn't anything that you did to create the bug. Just hope that it is somewhere useful when it happens. I've had it happen to me two or three times in multiple hundreds of games as Soviet. I tried recrewing, attacking ground with flamethrowers, bombarding. Nothing would allow it to move. |
That's not an exaggeration.
.......
This needs to end.
Are you talking 1v1, 2v2, or more? I've been playing mostly Ost in team games lately and usually see a soviet AT gun or two. Occasionally, I do see people running around with large groups of PTRS penals or bazooka blobs. It does make tier 3 relatively pointless but rushing a Stupa (Brummbaer) is gonna be fun. I've had 60+ kills with a single Stupa against people that want to play COH like it is Starcraft.
The other reason you probably don't see a lot of AT guns is that they don't counter units like the Stupa at all. The Soviet AT gun might get 3 shots in before it gets wiped, and on a good RNG day may penetrate on two of those shots. The USF AT gun does worse. |
When I don't have the CP's to bring in heavies like ISU, IS2, JT, or Ele, it means one of three things:
1) I played bad
2) I wasn't aggressive enough
3) The other team was terrible
Usually it's some combination of 1&2. I think the current CP requirements are okay. |
I don't know but I just lost 6 matches in a god damn row. I ask my opponents what I did wrong but they just say, get better or something similar. So today I am here just for that. What are the best methods? play more matches? watch live stream read guides? I did do things extensively. But I'm still losing extensibvely. Is There a way to get betterOR do I just suck?
In addition to the other replies, try watching some of the livestreams and watch how good players move their units, issue commands, position units, etc. Then try doing the same against a computer opponent before playing a lot online. If you start off by developing bad habits (speaking from personal experience) it can be really hard to change.
Also, try all five factions and see which fits your play style and ability to micro. |
I read it right the first time. If the ability provides 30 LoS in every sector that isn't attached, then that doesn't qualify as "needing line of sight". Areas that aren't revealed become revealed, without any units around.
Meanwhile SCAS, P-47s, Hawkers, all provide no vision and only target units you can already see. Seems pretty easy to differentiate what needs vision and doesn't.
This is how it works. I just tested it on Steppes. On a large map like that one, you can have units far enough away from the control point to not have LOS, then you would need either another unit to give LOS or something like Artillery Flares. On most 2v2's, the sectors are small enough that most everything in the sector gets spotted by the ability itself.
I don't know if the shell intensity increases over time, but the ability definitely doesn't start instantly. The map flashes, it gives a warning, then the shells start coming in.
In terms of destructive power, Close the Pocket is the strongest in the game, as it will wipe multiple buildings, squads, and vehicles for 200 muni's. Even so, it is okay because its really hard to plan for the ability and execute it, unlike a one-click dive bomb. |
Does someone know how this ability exactly works?
-Do you need Line of sight when activated? or does LoS increase accuracy of shells?
-Does it attack all allied Units, or Sector points, and with what? (Infantry with mortars, or Rockets, Tanks with railway etc.?
Does it get stronger the longer an Allied unit is within the pocket?
You do not need LOS. I don't know if LOS increases accuracy, but you lose everything if you leave it in a detached area so the question isn't very relevant.
It attacks all allied units, IIRC even buildings.
It does ramp up over time.
There's only a few maps where it isn't too hard to pull off (Trois Ponds is probably the easiest). It is pretty much an I-win button if you can pull it off, but it's really hard to do without help from a teammate. If you can't use Close the Pocket then you're stuck with an otherwise mediocre commander. |
They buffed the Pz4 so it could be an all-in tank, so yes we see much less Ostwind and Stugs. Even if you buff the Ostwind to Pz4 level, it wouldn't be interesting to get it and buffing it even more would make infantry play a nightmare vs it at the moment it hit the field.
It already can be a nightmare to play against it.
If you watch the replay, you'll see the cheese of massed Ostwinds. Try doing the same with the USF AA vehicle, which costs something like 30 more manpower but 30 less fuel. The Ostwinds regularly overwhelmed one of my teammate's SU85's, even with some amount of AT gun support and AT infantry. |
This was a 4v4 where one side built a lot of Ostwinds. The replay is interesting only in that you can see the cheese from massed Ostwinds and that the game went through some wild VP swings before ending 1 VP to 2 VP's. |
