They do more DPS than Sturmpioneers or Panzergrenadiers, while costing less. The only squad with higher DPS are Shock Troops, and they only have more because they have 6 members instead of 4. Even 5 Shock Troop model have less DPS than 4 Assault Engineers models. Thompson Paratroopers have the highest DPS in the game unless something changed drastically, which I doubt since Thompsons were also buffed. Using pre patch numbers here until new DPS numbers are posted: 6x Shocks: 611.848=71.088 for 390 manpower 4x Assault Engies: 417.193= 68.772 for 280 manpower 6x Paratroopers (4x Thompsons): 416.278+27.597=80.306 for 380 manpower 90 munitions Survivability goes Shocks>Paratroopers>Assault Engies In: COH2 Balance

For a 320 MP assault squad, they are too fragile. Their damage and cost seems right. If Shocks can stay competitive in the current meta, I see no reason for PGrens not to be with a buff. 320 MP assault squad... you mean Sturmpios? Who don't have a baseline -received accuracy like PGrens do? Who do less DPS at all ranges than PGrens? Seriously PGrens are superior to Sturmpios in all aspects (except maybe vet 4/ vet 5? Haven't done the math on that) and cost 20 more manpower. I don't see anyone saying Sturmpios are underperforming as an infantry unit. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Panzer 4 under preforming 1 Sep 2014, 09:05 AM Jump back to quoted post1 Sep 2014, 08:20 AMJaigen Actually they do. both units completely and utterly roflstomp german medium armor and have enough penetration to be a severe headache to german heavy armor. that sounds something only the panther can accomplish all the while they maintain excellent ai compared to the panther. E8 has 175/165/155 penetration, Panther has 260/240/220. Panther has 50 range, E8 has 40. Panther has 290 armor and 800 health (and gains armor and health at vet 2), E8 has 215 armor and 640 health. E8 is "okay" against heavier german armor while having above average armor for an allied tank but low health (which means that against stuff like a Panther it's no more durable than a T-34/76 or regular Sherman).
