I'm no lawyer, but I'm fairly positive finding this information isn't a breach of NDA and the moderators are just lock-happy. warning/ banning. suing Nigo? lol that's rich. |
Relic says things. You know, like Dr. Goebbels. |
The thing about Relic is that they find April 1st to be something that should last forever. Hence that joke of a new forum they got. Doesn't even have proper formatting tools, probably a Relic or SEGA guy's cousin's new forum software prototype pet project. |
Two months overdue just to give a buggy facelift? |
Tali-Ihantala is indeed a nice map to practice your game skills in terms of teamplay; most of the time I play that map players aren't able to effectively cover their sectors, but when they do, damn it's a blast.
In fact that'll be my next map when I play the game. |
I bet the new forum will be shite. Same thing happened with Total War's forum, completely arsed for no reason. |
I'd say the fact that they call it an alpha and treat it as such, is pretty much just a PR move. I'd go as far to say that if they had made UKF a Free2play thing like they did with the base game prior to release that would have caused more sales since people knew and had a taste, and if you pre-ordered you got extra for the trouble (and prior to launch, buying the game after playing meant you kept progress...although of course that requires progress being re-instated, and which was gone when they released WFA.
I mean they've been doing that with new commanders so it's not exactly anything new: let people play them for a week to get a taste of it. Besides preview, it's also opportunity to get feedback.
All that to say, this whole Relic not doing a lot of logical or practical things isn't really anything special. |
If you played a few matches then you would know what the changes were. If you don't then tough luck and you didn't miss out on much, IMO it's hardly even worth discussing anyways. |
Alpha is alpha, meaning even if you took part in the previous one, they may not retain the features or whatever they were testing. Heck they might even ditch the new stuff. Never had this with Relic but I have with other companies. In other words there isn't much stuff to talk about in the first place, nor would it be appropriate because what might end up being announced would be different. If everyone blabbed after every alpha no one would know WTF the game has: a big reason for NDA is to prevent that (though frankly that would be preventable if Relic was just more public about the stuff). |
I actually think something like the Panzer ELite's Panzer4 lockdown toggle might be a good idea to introduce. FYI, it basically makes the tank immobile, but fires much faster. It can also improve turret traversal rate.
This way, you kind of have a KV-2 in every vehicle toggled to this ability. With a slight cooldown this prevents from being abused like having a T-34 drive right up to something, hit toggle, plow away enemy, untoggle and run. Also to prevent making units like SU-76/85 useless, the toggle doesn't prevent vehicle traversal, at least for those two units.
Also I never liked how M-42 is just a doorknocker. Give it some sort of special ability like Tread Shot or even a stun barrage against infantry. It won't be a powerful unit by itself, but it would be powerful because it lets your other units do their work much easier. |
