Thread: Panzer III and T-26 Tanks28 Apr 2016, 01:39 AM I would have preferred Panzer 3 as OKW replaced either Puma or Luchs, the latter two being common doctrinal scout vehicles. Both would work like M10 and Greyhound, they are cheaper but weaker vehicle call-ins with scout and economy being their attraction; the Panzer 3 being a regular Joe tank. The real problem with Panzer 3 however is that it overlaps with all the T3 units. You want it to be cheaper and faster than P4? You already have StuG. AI only? Ostwind. Cost? StuG. Another doctrinal call-in? We already got StuG E, Puma and Command Tank. However you design this unit, there will always be a non-doctrinal unit that fits the bill, if not better. It's dumb, but that's the result of CoH2 over the years. I've also tried theorycrafting Panzer 3 into commanders over the years, it has never worked out well. It would have to be a very exotic type of unit that fills a very niche role, which isn't what people think of when they read Panzer III. This is just Relic designing themselves into a corner. All you need to defeat FP is a lot of small-arms fire and the FP is dead. No joke, with enough infantry you can even overpower an upgraded FP from the front....with JUST small arms fire. Light tanks would come in the time light vehicles are being phased out by T3 and AT guns. End of the day, vehicles like Panzer III just won't work given the way the game is designed.
