You need to be way more aggressive to succeed in this game. Most of your units were held back towards your base sector defending, but rarely fighting. There really isn't even anything to protect, the American player had most of the map already. This is why the american player won, even though you had way more units than him. You didn't use them. Pay attention to cut-off points as well. If your territory isn't connected back to your base, you will not receive any resources from it. That's why the other player was getting triple the amount of resources you had for most of the game.
Once you had resources, you also took way too long to tech up, and were floating a lot of manpower. Saving over 1000 manpower doesn't help you at all, because it's just wasted doing nothing. It's better to buy something as soon as you can to reinvest your resources back onto the field. Saving for later is a waste. You could have had a tank much much sooner if you had built the building and bought it.
You will also need to work on your micro. Try to make sure you aren't leaving your units around doing nothing. You had a sniper the entire game that was sitting in your base that never moved. Getting better at this just comes down to practice.
Quick tips:
- You can shift+click to chain orders in a queue. This is very helpful for capping multiple points, if you find yourself forgetting about units.
- Be aggressive. If you are going to be defensive, you atleast have to move up and counterattack.
- You forgot the entire East side of the map. He had nothing defending it, they were basically free resources.
- The other player was bad so it wasn't really an issue, but you will need to get some Anti-tank units as Ostheer preemptively, before you need them.
-Just play the game more, you're at a skill level where how well you play the game is more important than strategy. Practice and you will get better and microing your units and remembering to tech up. Once you get better at the mechanics of the game, your rank will rise and you will play better opponents. That is where strategy and build order will come more into play.
- Also you had plenty of infantry, your squad preservation was a lot better than the other guy. Just gotta focus more on using them.
i would like to buy this game, but only want to play in first person gamemode.
How is the playercount for first person servers in all gamemodes (solo, duo, team)?
Are there enough players in these modes as well (numbers, if possible)?
Unless you live in Australia, you wont notice a difference in playerbase. The playerbase is so massive that it doesn't matter, everything is populated. Note: FPP servers have no leaderboards yet, as there are still "testing" them. That means no ranking, elo, or skill based matchmaking on them.
The fact that they are updating every other AOE to be 'Modern' or remastered leaves me to suspect a otherwise age, Vietnam into digital age is a possibility at this point. If we link back to what SturmtigerCobra said:
Their acquisition of staff seems to also point to that as well including their art director who worked on (thank god) gritty modern/future style games. While Im not quite sure how it would play out but my hope is that hey find a cross of Empires:dawn of the modern world or Empire Earth for that matter. If we push the gap and go future we look for CNC and Starcraft as examples and its simply to tight of a market to get into at this point.
I doubt they will go too far into new ages. The last game ended in something like the 1850s, I expect them to continue on from around there into about 1950. It'll get a little weird to see helicopters come in the last age and obliterate musketmen with impunity. The other AoE games tried to keep atleast some parity within the games.
USF and OKW really only have 2 meta commanders each. I can guarantee both vetoes will go to armor/heavy cav and scavenge/spec ops. Maybe you want to consider making it a non-meta commanders tourney?
The only actual mechanic That I would say is better in coh1 is the veterancy system. Coh2 has come a long way in this regard. The only thing I would say coh1 has over 2 is way better faction design, commander system, and campaign of course.
Sniper/cloaking, capping circles, no zombies, REVERSE KEY....
I'm not sure if this thread was meant to give people a green light pass to be total dicks disrespectful towards Relic and Relic staff members. If you don't like their company, don't go hang around their community forums, and go play other games.
You'd be hard pressed to find people with nice things to say about how Relic handles things, going back 10 years. This site is a CoH2 fansite, not a Relic fansite.
