For the fifth game tonight, I have been in matches with levels differences like the one displayed in the screenshot. Admittedly, still being rather new and unskilled at the game, it makes it very difficult when just about every game I play is against someone who has put quadruple the amount of hours into the game. Not only does it reflect poorly on Company of Heroes and make me want to just leave or surrender the match, but it also makes me not want to play the game at all.

Why would I continue to putting hours (not to mention money) into a game that can't even find people 50 ranks within my level? I'd rather go play something else.

Any word or feedback on what Relic is doing to alleviate this issue, if at all, would be appreciated.

Hello.

I admit i dont know how matchmaking really works but i guess it has nothig to do with your level.
I have faced lvl 300 player and had an easy game with surrender at the 10 min mark and faced lvl 90 player that crushed me terribly hard and made my anus wish it was in hell.
I think it may be more in relation with your win/loss ratio.

Maybe it's 'cause the Axis players aren't a bunch of forum crybabies, and they keep their cool and fight the uphill battle, unlike some of their "allied" counterparts.

The matchmaking doesn't care about your rank, it cares about your elo. Don't play 4 vs. 4 for fair matches.

Only way to fix matchmaking is buying thousands of asian slave workers who will fill the Playerbase. Or F2P or become popular but the first is the most likely out of the 3.

First of all welcome one this forum :welcome:

Matchmaking looks at your player rank wich you can see in the ingame leaderbord, however when the system cant find a suitable opponent for your rank (low playercount) it will you will get match vs less/more skilled players.
The only reason COH2 is still around, is because it's preserved by salt.

The mm always does this, it's better to find a game that's not balanced than to sit 30 minutes in the que waiting for a balanced match

Match making wont work unless you play with the same people 10 games in a row to get ranked.

After that you get a ranking with that person where it will try and pair you up with other arranged teams. Solo queuing also works this way, play 10 games and you get a stand alone ranking.

The game at later hours of the day (such as late EST) the game population floats around 3000-4000 respectively meaning less people ACTUALLY queuing for multiplayer as the chat includes people who are playing single player.

The issue is that CoH doesn't put solo ques and arranged team together and that is why MM gets so borked. You have people who are maybe ranked in the top 200 going up against those who haven't had placement matches yet

It's honestly something that cab't be improved without making the waiting times absurd. It's for lack of a playerbase, not on Relic's end really that can be helped.
