Make Quad upgrade 60 muni, 30 fuel, then it is fair, as cost comparing with OKW and US HT.

While this does in fact make the M5s upgrade very inconsistent with all other upgrades in the game, it's preferable to making the Non-OP M5 itself more expensive.

I'd say the cheesiest thing about the M5 is how powerful it is against OKW base defenses.

As soon as I get my quad and I'm fighting M5 I just straight up attack the base. As long as you only take on one of those spinny flackshits at a time the M5 wins with minimal damage. Then crew it with your conscripts and soon enough the enemy base is yours.

OKW really oughta get some cover or something on those things.

The two changes to the M5 which I think are good, balanced compromises would be:
1) Only allow it to suppress while stationary.
2) Add a fuel cost to the upgrade.

Instead of being a tier 4 requirement, what of T1 & T2 to upgrade to the quad? T3 can still be built with T1 OR T2 but if you want that amazing quad... But regardless I do like the damage nerf but keep the suppression considering Cons need support with fighting veteran OKW and MG42 Grenadiers.

The damage deffo needs to be reduced, it can easily kill light vehicles in seconds even further negating OKW Mech play and makes the 222 essentially irrelevant. Also all small arms fire give main gun destroyed crits which makes the Quad mount even more deadly.

If you get the Puma to 25% health you will get a main gun destory crit on it with the quad meaning the Puma can't even fight back :foreveralone:

Vehicles are GUARANTEED to receive main gun destroyed from any small arms or flame damage that penetrates below 25% health. Even an IS2's gun isn't safe from the massive destructive power of MG42 incendiary rounds from the rear. Will probably get fixed eventually.

What annoys me about the M5 is its ability to destroy light vehicles in addition to its insanely strong AI power.

The 222 and the flakhalftrack should clearly win engagements with a giant mg mounted on a truck...

It's pen is actually awful, it just fires a gorillion rounds per burst so it doesn't matter. Just reduce it's damage by like 30% or w/e but keep it's suppression the same.

There's nothing wrong with M5 quad. It's simply a blob counter. Stop blobing and it won't be as useful as it is now.

It deals low dmg on long range, you have to get closer to kill models more efficiently, but then OH can bring PAK.

TBH all AA HTs shred light armor to pieces. Quad isn't exception here.

And I would lower its penetration first, it doesn't need to be as effective against lights, but 2 bursts against kubel seem alright.

Yes, but there is an order of things. And I feel like armored cars (222, flaktruck, Puma, etc.) should have and advantage against "MG-trucks". Right now it seems like a soviet truck becomes the ruler of the early-midgame destroying infantry and AC's alike. And it comes in a tier where the other vehicles are actual "tanks". M5 should be a strong AI-only platform in my opinion. With SU76 being the AT option and T70 the middle way.

Your suggestion though goes exactly into my direction of thinking.

What are you going to lower it's pen to? .5? It's already got just standard MG penetration, the problem is is fires extremely fast while also doing high damage. It's like a vet 3 MG42 with Incendiary rounds permanently on while having no set up time and Blitz on top of all that.

To value low enough that would allow it to fight on equal terms at least with pair of 222s.
