It wasn't legendary when SU-100 and better and 76mm sherman and better and 17 pounder showed up.
It was a legendary target practice then.

Its not its performance that got it to legendary status, but propaganda really.
Over engineered, breaking left and right, few and perfectly countered by late war allied guns.

Propaganda? lol. That's not the first time you've said that on here. Everything is Nazi propaganda to a Soviet fanboy like yourself. Nonetheless here are the lists Katitof. They speak for themselves.

Coming back after having more multiplayer games with Tiger doctrines.
Changed my mind a bit. Tiger could prove usefull though but it's quite situational.
Well first, you gotta have intel. Best doctrine with Tiger these days was spearhead for me because of the recon plane. You should not throw the Tiger forward without knowing what's there. Playing Tiger with no proper intel available can make you lose the game (flares from OKW, recon plane from ostheer).
Secondly, your USF opponent must have no idea you are going for Tigers (and builds to many shermanns instead building some jacksons too. If he is caught on the wrong foot, he has little chance).
Your soviet oponent must chose a doctrine without IS2. If he choses an IS2 doctrine is game over for you. ISU 152 is acceptable too if you have proper intel.
Third, you need to be realy "shy" with your tiger at first and don't try playing Witmann :P while it's still vanilla. Starting with vet 2 you can begin to be cocky and show what your tiger can do.

In the end, you will have to be lucky, too. In a 2v2 AT I vetted a Tiger untill 3 stars and at the end of match (when it died) it had 106 kills.

So you can use the Tiger with some good results but not in every match, it greatly depends on what your opponent does and what doctrine he chooses. As a comparison, on the soviet side, you can chose IS2 without trembling, it will do its job very well no matter what your opponent does. That's the difference.

Meh, thats not entirely true. At last on an open map (ie. Langres, Crossing, Minsk), IS-2 is virtually hardcountered by Ele/JT, and you'll be effectively confined to working the periphery of the map. That said, IS-2 has more utility than the Tiger, but the latter is far from useless either.

If you build a Tiger use it as anti infantry only. Try bleeding off the opponents infantry. Use Paks to fight off the tanks. It´s ridiculous to have to use the Tiger that way, but it´s the only way that works for me.

Honestly it should get a survivability buff at vet2 like it used to. The Tiger has turned into a tin can with 1) Blitz nerf, 2) Health decrease, 3) Armor bonus totally removed at vet2, 4) Jackson buff versus heavy tanks. --> Congratulations, the Tiger has now the survivability of a medium tank.

Well, considering the theory that the problem are not the mediums, but how far too effective are the heavies for their cost, MAYBE it's about right that the Tiger get to be "a better medium". I don't think that it needs a buff, it still is a superb tank - just not a "click to unleash the Hulk" unit anymore.

Perhaps Relic should bring the IS2 down a little bit.

i would also prefer other heavies getting more in line by getting nerfed.

German kill counts are regularly disproven by cross-examination of Soviet records. But that's for a different thread.

That is true but not terribly meaningful.
Overclaim is a common feature of modern warfare, and occured on all sides during the second world war, friction, fog of war, and all that.
That being said, in direct comparison, German claims were by a long shot more reliable than their Soviet counterparts, who seemed to suffer from an obviously systemic problem with their reporting procedures and for the lack of a better word, blatant institutional dishonesty when it came to their military performance. That holds true both on the ground and in the air, one of the most prominent examples possibly being Prokhorovka...

Now, the truly interesting question is IMHO just why that was the case.

As far as the game is concerned, lets not get carried away, the Tiger is far more survivable than any medium tank with the possible exception of the Panther...

Ah yea it is. It should translate in-game aswell. Axis with better tanks and Allies with more of them.

That was implied very nicely in COH1, but now COH2 Allies have better tanks with better numbers, because Soviet is Soviet.

And you gonna flip the table when these guys come.

it's systemic in soviet communism. if you look at other areas (non-military, even recent ones) you'll find the same thing. given that people had quotas and there wasn't much accountability it's easy to see why it happened.

Yeah, the Soviet government flagrantly lying? Not exactly surprising.

Tiger's are amazing until Micheal Wittman finally stops playing hide and seek and gets his Tiger blown into 2 by a Sherman Firefly at 1000+ meters.

And how is that relevant to the topic?

The Firefly isn´t in the game yet.

You have a 230 fuel unit that has an underwhelming performance and is only reliable to finish infantry.

Because why?
It can't YOLO against its hardcounters and win?

Its not a super tank, it never was.

You need 3 normal or 2 doctrinal medium tanks to even think of engaging it and you think its bad?

You really should reevaluate your perception of what cost effectiveness is.

Oh look, it's the clown from the alpha forum. Can't contribute anything to the discussion, but axis are always op and balance will be only achieved when allies have 100 % win rate.

I have to say the IS2 is better than the Tiger, because the IS2 has a higher field presence, more shots deflect, it can stay longer in combat, it needs more resources to counter and when it hits infantry, it hits them usually hard, thanks to 4 men squads.

I don't say nerf the IS2, I rather think adjust the Tiger so it's on par with the IS2, by the impact it has on the game.
Or make it cheaper, if that is out of question.
