Hi Guys, im quite new to CoH2 and im still trying to become at least a bit better with the soviets^^
But thats not the point, i want to ask about the "XP-System" in CoH2. I didnt find a topic about it, so here are the questions:

- have the "ingame ranks" any further meaning? (i dont think so)
- do you get stuff from "leveling"? (for example commanders, bulletins etc.?)
- how is the XP generated, what factors are most important?
- have they any meaning at all?

(please excuse my english^^)

mfg, Russenwuff :)

- there's some commanders you get with registering and leveling up
- probably just dmg done, kills, game length, that sort of stuff.
- again: nope

Long story short:
In game level is exclusively an indicator of how long you play the game, it have nothing to do with how good you are or anything.

acutally its not even that. i farm a lot and therefore have a lot of hours put into this game, but my rank is quite low. so its something like playtime*acitivity :D

The XP is calculated from the ingame XP you get when taking damage, killing enemies etc (afaik).

So, there is no faster way to get some viable bulletins? Cause i own only crap ones^
I sometimes use the farm-trick, but i didnt get anything good till now. (And its a bit bad for my PC and my electricity bill^^)
You also dont get better bulletins or other stuff on higher levels?

Before the release of War spoils (WFA), some bulletins used to require a certain level, IIRC, you had access to tiger tank after level 50. After WFA, you have to pray for a good commander/bulletin.

So, to summarize it: No, your level doesnt mean/do anything except for showing how long you were playing the game. Thats it, no bonuses etc

The "register for free commanders" thingie isn't in the game anymore?

That would be at least the only "useful" thing i could think of.

I really don't know, but I think they've moved all unpurchasable commanders to war spoils.

The only reason to lvl up is to get the Soviet NKVD commander or the Ostheer (Wehrmacht) Opel Blitz commander

I do not believe you get any Commanders for levelling whatsoever.

My current understanding is thus:, however I have yet to have it "officially" confirmed

1) A new player will start the game with all the Common Commanders only

2) All Uncommon & Rare Commanders are available through Warspoils

3) Some but not all of the Uncommon and Rare Commanders are available as DLC

4) This leaves the following that are neither common, nor DLC. I believe they are all Warspoilable

Ostheer Close Air Support Rare
SOV Advanced Warfare Rare

Available in the aftermath of MWNL

Ostheer Defensive Rare
SOV Defensive Rare

There was a point when you could get these from signing up to the official forums, this may or may not still be active.

SOV Lend Lease Rare
Ostheer Mobile Defence Rare

These two were released on Elbe Day - and I recall went to everybody then.

Ostheer Assault Support Uncommon
Ostheer Jeager Infantry Uncommon
SOV NKVD Rifle Uncommon
SOV Shock Motor Uncommon

I believe these used to be unlocked as one gained levels, but that no longer happens

No, its not, because they are not tied to level but to a war spoil like all other non default commanders.

The addition of seemingly endless, non-specific progression ranks with prestige was an attempt to incorporate mechanics that have been extremely popular in FPS since COD4. Somewhere around 2008 every other game in existence started including it.

They tied bulletins and meaningless faceplate etc unlocks to it so that it actually did something, but they didn't want to commit fully by making doctrines and other serious game-play impacting things require leveling. Then WFA came out and they rejigged the whole thing, ranks themselves were left in the dust.
