Relic will add a US Army campaign for CoH2 on November:

http://blogs.companyofheroes.com/2014/08/13/relic-entertainment-announces-company-of-heroes-2-ardennes-assault/
SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON – August 13, 2014 – SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced Company of Heroes™ 2: Ardennes Assault; an all new standalone single-player expansion and a harrowing new chapter in the critically acclaimed series. Company of Heroes 2: Ardennes Assault is inspired by the conflict that Winston Churchill once described as “undoubtedly the greatest American battle of the war” – the Battle of the Bulge. The new campaign content will see players take control of the US Forces in this pivotal World War II battle in the densely forested, strategically critical Ardennes region of Western Europe. They will face huge tactical and navigational challenges as they strive to repel a surprise attack from the relentless German Oberkommando West forces in 18 brand new, single-player scenarios.

Company of Heroes 2: Ardennes Assault will feature three entirely new Companies to choose from within the US Forces, each with their own unique Officers and play-style. Players will see their decisions and actions reflected across the Ardennes landscape in this dynamic new single-player campaign. Player choices are crucial as every decision will not only impact the story but also their Company with upgrades and Veterancy carrying over from mission to mission. With limited soldiers under your command, you must manage their lives and well-being effectively or risk losing that Company for good. Will you lead your Company valiantly and emerge as heroes?

“We can’t wait to bring our players this awesome new single-player campaign for Company of Heroes 2,” said Greg Wilson, Executive Producer at Relic Entertainment. ”We managed to include more missions in this expansion than we had in the original release and it’s packed full of great new features which we’ll be revealing over the coming months.”

Company of Heroes 2: Ardennes Assault is developed by Relic Entertainment and will be launching on November 18, 2014, for Windows PC and PC digital download platforms.

German campaigns would be awfully depressing. "Hold out while you get bombed and shelled every day. Fight until you lose, again and again, and eventually watch all your men die in Berlin no matter how hard you try"

Alternatively: "Welcome to Russia. You freeze. The end"

Why US campaign? Why not playing as OKW as counteroffensive in France?

The Market Garden was the best campaign in COH history, and the COH2 US is much more boring than the vCOH one.

CoH I also had Little german campaigns like the Tiger-ace or the Falaise-pocket Mission where your Goal is to hold on until your man are saved from the frontlines.

Germans lost the war but have won many Little battles even in 1944-1945.German Army started many succesfull operations to save encircled armys or evacuate civillians.

And you talking like the german army were a weak army in the last years of the war and getting steamrolled by the allies. Of course they lost but they inflicted mostly higher looses to the USA and Soviets then they were getting. Even if they were outnumbered on all fronts.

Western Front:

Battle of Monte Cassino(1944)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Monte_Cassino
German losses: 20000
Allied losses: 55000

Operation Shingle(1944)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Shingle
German losses: 40000
Allied losses: 43000

Battle of Hürtgen Forest(1944)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_H%C3%BCrtgen_Forest
German losses: 28000
USA Losses: 33000

Battle of the Bulge(1944-1945):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Bulge
german losses: 67,200 – 100,000 and 600 tanks
USA Losses: 89,500 and 800 tanks

Operation Market Garden(1944):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Market_Garden
german losses: 3,300–13,300 and 30 tanks
Allied losses: 15,326–17,200 and 88 tanks

Operation Nordwind(1944):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Nordwind
German losses: 23000
USA losses: 29000

Operation Overlord(June 6– 25 August 1944)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Overlord
german losses: 209,875–450,000(mostly of them prisoners) +2,127 planes +2,200 tanks
allied losses: 226,386 +4,101 planes +4,000 tanks

Eastern Front:

Battle of Kursk:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Kursk
german losses: 305565 and 760 tanks
soviet losses: 863303 and 6064 tanks

Battle of Narva(1944):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Narva_(1944)
german losses: 68,000 casualties
soviet losses: 480,000 casualties + 300 tanks

Battle of the Korsun–Cherkassy Pocket(1944)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korsun%E2%80%93Shevchenkovsky_Offensive
german losses: 30000-50000 and 156-249 tanks
soviet losses: 80188 and 728 tanks

Battle of Debrecen(1944)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Debrecen
german losses: 35,000 and 200 tanks
soviet losses: 117,360 and 500 tanks

Siege of Budapest(1944-1945)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Budapest
German losses: 99000–150000 dead, wounded or captured
Soviet losses: 320082 dead, wounded, missing or sick

Operation Bagration
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Bagration
german losses: reaching from 300,000-600,000 Overall Casualties(depending on different sources)
soviet losses: 770,888 Overall Casualties +2,957 tanks +822 aircraft

These should be enough examples for a german campign even if its only about "hold the line until civillians or army Units are evacuated". Or "Push Forward and save encircled army unit XY".

It's pretty common that the defender loses less men than the attacker. That's why there's a thumb rule that says, that the attacker should always outnumber the defender 3:1 before considering an assault.

When Germany was on the offensive against the soviet Union from 1941-1943 the soviets had also higher loses than the attacking Wehrmacht.

And dont get me wrong ist nice to have a US Campaign but this is the 2nd allied campaign and we still dont have a single german campaign. And as far i remember the German Campaigns from CoH I were pretty popular.

hah, yeah the bright side is the new commanders and units, but I don't know if it will be available for multiplayer (I play multiplayer only and haven't played much at all in the last 3 weeks).

I see it a temporary diversion of resources. They did this during the vcoh2 last year. They released all these boring expansion packs while the multiplayer itself improved at a snail's pace. Only after these expansion packs were over did they launch major patches (gigs worth) for multiplayer. They did this in the spring of 2014, which was a long wait. This is all just IMO.

Well, Kursk was an offensive on paper, sure.

If you factor in the effective combat strenght of these units, the figures are way less impressive all of a sudden.

On topic;

The Western Front has been chewed through back and forth by Hollywood and the Game Industry that's why I'm a bit dissapointed.
The Eastern Front scenario offers soo much more innovative new possibilities...

I couldn't care less. I have spent one minute on single player by accidentally clicking the button. I just want to see Ostheer given some love and MG facing fixed :)

When Germany was on the offensive against the soviet Union from 1041-1943 the soviets had also higher loses than the attacking Wehrmacht.

That was one long offensive there.

It seems like they are focusing on the western front for now.

The next Thing on eastern front TOW should be Kursk.

This seems like they designed the campaign for you to be able to re use units that retain veterancy, and I guess only allowing you to build a certain amount of units, adding smaller pop caps to more valuable units in the game.

Seems like an interesting design change, can't wait for the release.

The soviets and germans accounted for losses differently.

A loss for the soviets was even a tank that was lost for a short time, for example a tank stuck in the mud.

A tank loss for the germans meant that the tank is completely irrecoverable and is completely destroyed.

For example, a tiger with a damaged turret isin't a destroyed tank for them. even tho the turret was damaged by a t-34 and was lying in no mans land for 1 week but was eventually recovered is not a loss.

Also, the "the battle of kursk" in that wikipedia article also accounts for the soviet offensive, and the soviet offensive lasted for much, much longer than the german offensive.

I'm fairly certain a SP add-on means ToW content or AT LEAST new commanders for MP. As it stands, I haven't played the COH2 campaign even though I've had the game for 9 months now. I don't plan to either. SP in RTS games is just, pointless and boring.
