Yep, the data is automatically generated from the game data ( standard COH2 ). I've hidden some commanders by a hand-set list. I need to hide their abilities as well.

if you filter by commander ability it contains unreleased abilities. One of the downsides of automatically generated data

I've been working on a "tool" which can be used to display commanders. Currently there's only one kind of a filter available, which filters the list of the commanders by the selected ability.

Update: 100% automatically generated data.

I made an iPhone app that does the same, basically select a bunch of abilities, and it would predict the possible commanders, i had to feed the data cuz i don't know C# 
I shouted about a bit on chats but didn't seem people were interested, so i use it for my own help now

Its a very good tool, I just used it today to check which German commanders have camo ambush. It was very handy.

You can finally filter with multiple abilities, logically up to 5.
Here's an example filter of all commanders with Command tank, Panzer tactician, and Hull down: http://commanders.coh.fi/index.php?pagesize=6&fixed_ability_list=41,1,2
Clicking abilities in the commander cards will ONLY filter with that one ability, while the abilities at the bottom of the page can be used to create complex filters.
You can finally filter with multiple abilities, logically up to 5.

Ability to filter with multiple abilities was a bitch to code though. It required major changes to the DB structure as well (normalizing). Good thing is I learned something new about SQL.

I believe they've been there for a good while - not like the Sherman which just appeared in middle of a map. Someone might have better information regarding this.

That thing was horribly BAD.
Maybe it's 'cause the Axis players aren't a bunch of forum crybabies, and they keep their cool and fight the uphill battle, unlike some of their "allied" counterparts.
