I think the $10.8k we raised during OCF is quite objective. So are our SNF total channel views (1.7 million), max concurrent viewers (2.8k) and max unique viewers (22.6k) records. We would expect Relic to see that value as well, and we're not gonna sell ourselves short.

How's the saying go? "If you're good at something, never do it for free."

I've noticed none of the official casters have transcodes on their twitch streams, would be a good idea to hook them up with a twitch partnership.

I'm very surprised to see that some of the CoH2.org leads turned down the chance to cast ESL tourneys.

After all the years of hard work you guys put in, I think it was incredibly short sighted to burn all your bridges, in what I can only surmise as a 'moment of madness'.

If, like Ipkai prophesies, ESL fails, and Relic has no future interest in organizing or bankrolling competitive tournaments for CoH2, you would have lost nothing.

If, however, ESL really takes off, and CoH2 see's a steady influx of new players (especially if it ever goes to a F2P model), you've basically blown all those years of hard-work, and the building of goodwill between yourselves and Relic.

Not only that, but you would have lost the chance to generate a tangible income from advertising (via twitch, youtube or the site), and regular donations via the twitch stream's you would have put on. Judging by some of the incomes I have seen from just regular streamers, who are not hosting an event or anything, the amount of potential revenue you could have made from this alone, would have far out stripped any income you would have received directly from Relic.

never bite the hands that feed you smh

Trying to help you out because I love the people on this website and I know most staffers are working their ass off on a daily basis to make this community better.

Oh Kris, you are such a kissass. It's unbelievable. Kissass on paper and 'diplomatic backstabber'. Friendly in the face, shit behind the back.

Make no mistake people on this website, Kristof called everyone, including staff, retards and this forum is utter shit in his eyes. And this is not an event that happened years ago, it happened only a few months ago. A_E, Existant, Ami, Bloodnok and after I left I noticed me too. You called us all freaking retards but in their face you are still a friendly guy. Now working more close then ever but weeks ago they were still retards and losers. Might explain that to them Kris?

Don't pull that 'I love the people on this website' on me, cause you and I know you are not. It's a face you put on. Call it E-drama and you are right, but it had to be said. It's awful how you are acting in this thread. Talking about 'come clean', look at yourself first.

Don't forget that there are people (ex-staff) that know how things went and how things are. I can open a book of shit that happened so you might be careful with stating untrue statements.

The excitement for ESL has been low because they are catering to the same small group of players each week. Increased prizes will do very little to help.

That's it. That's exactly what I'm saying every day and made a topic about which apparently many people disagreed with.

Make returning tournaments for max 10 ppl (Luvnest, Jesulin, Barton, Hans, ...) and call it Esports? Leave 99,99% of the community hanging? "Euh but Night everyone can participate so your argument is invalid' - false. Why join a tournament you know you will lose? If heavy weights like Barton, Jesulin and all are all in the tournament, you know you will be knocked out in the 1st round even if you are in the the top 20 of the game.

Makes no sense, makes no sense at all.

Honestly, I think IpKai is deserving of more respect than a halfassed unpleasant comment like that.

For this, I have a comment and a question.

The comment first; how do you make a tournament for lower brackets that isn't ripe for abuse?

The answer to that comment might be my question (confused yet?): Didn't they want to make it so players could either compete in the monthlies for the big prize (upper brackets) or weeklies for small prizes (lower brackets), but never both?

To me that seemed like a smart way to do it, though I don't know how they are going to avoid good players making more accounts to compete in both tournaments, nor how they intent to catch them.

"I don't know the story of Ipkai here". Please read that again thanks!

And for your second comment and question, I gladly invite you into the wold of FaceIT for CS:GO where there are tournaments for each skill level with prizes without much abuse. (There will always be abuse, on any skill level). In 2016, there are tools to see who's having more accounts than one.
They missed 99,99% of the community like Unknown Legend says. That is a fact.

Don't believe me? Look at the Q4, Q2 and finalists of the cups. Not a single one (maybe Talisman? dunno his ladder status) below Top 20.
But what about the rest of the +8000 players?

Sorry but I have to disagree. I think tournaments should be for best players as ESL is. I don't see point watching someone unknown to me with my skill level. On the other hand I watched all ESL finals (EU/NA) either live or recorded.
When you check number of viewers on coh2 streams it's quite obvious that number is a function of skill level and personality of streamer. So instead of 1k+ viewers you would get 100-200 participants. I don't see how it would make sense for growing community as whole.
Plus when you have player like Luvnest or Jesulin you can for example put community spotlight with them and promote game that way. How would you do that with someone unknown who won medium level tournament due to pure luck (if it's not luck then he shouldn't be in that tournament at all)?

And as why to play ESL as it is? My answer is that you should play to have a chance of going against the best and learning from them.

Just my 2 cents.

Lol dude, that just does not make any sense at all.

So basically you're saying that there shouldn't be leagues for football teams that can't compete with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona? Same principle.

It's all about number of ppl interested in discipline/game. If there would be 50k football fans across world in total then I'm doubtful about existence of several leagues/championships etc.

And about Real/Barcelona. Unless you are from Spain I wonder if you ever saw/read anything about Spain teams not from Primera Division.

I never understood ipkai, amis and other "oldschool" casters stance on that its somehow relics responsiblity to create esports. You have it all wrong, relics responsibility is creating a good game. Its up to the community to create a competitive environment. Its finally up to businessmen and real esport organisations to make the game an esport.

The biggest esport games got zero support from its developers (quake, cs 1.6)and todays big esport games would still be big without a developers support.

Really you are just a generation of self-entitled brats.

TBH i dont find you oldschool casters any good, it was obvious you didn't like the game very much when you casted, it even showed some casters probably didn't even play the game and that shows through.

and ppl that say A_E promoting his channel through his casting is tasteless needs to get a reality check. Ami taking 50% of OCF CROWDFUNDED prizepool is tasteless 10x. That was just a seizing a opportunity. Ami has countless times stated he sees coh2 casting as a career, and got mad when the game didnt get huge. I remember ami talking shit about relic for an hour on a stream he didnt realize was still on, because coh2 tournaments didnt have league of legends viewernumbers.

I don't really have any expectations for Relic to support the grassroots competitive scene financially, I never did. I'm not aiming and never have aimed to make any money personally and quite frankly the only way to make any money from CoH2 is to just play CoH2, put the time and get good.

I wasn't happy that the ESL tournament was announced very quietly via a blog post during the Christmas weekend.

I wasn't happy at the initial rule set because it looked like they didn't consult with ANYONE in the community, Kyle says differently but I still find it hard to imagine anyone coming up with that initial rule set.

I wasn't happy at what they advertised as a "prize" for the casters they would have chosen as official casters because I believe they deserve more than just being able to use logos on a stream which was the initial offer.

I'm glad things have improved, I hope there will be more than three months of the Go4 as well after the initial three months are over. It's good for the scene even though I still believe the initial role out to be a complete shambles.

I can only say: Rogers post +1000

I remember watching bridgers Tales of heroes back in the day, and it was obvious he loved the game and that every show had tons of preparation and time invested into it, yet it was also obvious he problably didn't recieve any money for the show and i wouldn't be suprised if bridger would even have refused to accept money from their viewers. It was by the community for the community kinda show.

The other person i can relate this thing to is Day9. Day9 did a DAILY 1h show for years for FREE because he loved sc2 and its community. Day9 could have at any point in time introduced a subscription program for his "pro play" dailies and im sure he would have made a fortune but he never did.

Thats why i love gaming because such generous persons with pure love for their respective games has always created and formed its communities. Thats why when you compare this to amis "time invested vs money income" argument to what other before and after him has done in his position... well it really comes off as greedy no matter how he tries to justify grabbing 50% of the prizepool and yet it's not good enough.
