To be honest, I use them more like support. [snip] That is exactly what is the problem. Cons are NOT mainline inf, because they don't perform without heavy doctrinal support and vet. Penals are NOT mainline inf, because they are more expensive, less durable(vetted) cons. Maxims are soviet mainline inf, because its the ONLY stock squad that is able to deal more bleed then it takes and allowing for a fighting chance past early game without heavy doctrinal support. Grand total of 0 was used by ostheer against soviets, some were issued to finland, but thats it. On western front they were modified to serve all kind of purposes, but definitely not used as the coh1 tank. Its hard a unit that doesn't match any army more then this one. Well, SAS jeeps make equally no sense for example. CoH1 armies were modeled on pretty much "whatever was used in war on that front across the years". CoH2 armies have somewhat strict themes and a lot of units, especially western front early war stuff, simply makes no sense given the army themes. In: COH2 Gameplay

The usual, OKW is a special snowflake for the very reason of having super heavy as stock unit while conviniently having best AT infantry as their most numerous infantry that can be supplemented by elite inf of your choice or obers. USF for example must go for calliopes or they are stomped, if they go for callis on the other hand, they stomp OKW. In: COH2 Gameplay

You aren't really going to have armor out any faster then if you went captain. Odds are you will be forced into buying a zooks just so you don't get pushed off by a 222 which will delay even further. USF is only army that might have trouble with that, but if you're skipping captain, you're going to have early armor anyway and you can always supplement yourself with proper doctrine. Soviets don't really struggle economically to build all 4 tiers, so going for T2 before or after T3 isn't a problem at all. In: COH2 Gameplay
