DOW3. lol I think it's too early for an announcement, but yeah it's coming for sure. Or at very least they have started working on it. Total War: WARHAMMER https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i4d3ignBNQ Over 4 million views, the Total War: Warhammer/DoW3 hypetrain is coming ![]() Free-to-play MMO spin-off (no single player) + DoW3, so two games not just one. The DoW3 game itself will probably be single player oriented and cost money to buy while DoW: Arena will be FTP with ingame currency/grinding such as Total War: Arena. For a strong hint to what is coming from Relic free-to-play MMO, go play the beta for FTP Total War: Arena. I played the beta (which is 10 vs 10 MMO RTS, hybrid between MOBA and RTS). They are more or less copying stuff from COH: Online and then adding the "Heroes leveling" from DoW. Also they are adding "World of Tanks" alike research system with different tiers of units/ratings. There are not a snowball chance in hell, CA could make both Total War: Warhammer and Total War: Arena with such a relative flawless design in a Beta game without working with Relic from the data/ideas they have for DoW3 MMOs/COH MMOs and old data from DoW2/DoW1. Free-to-play DoW: Arena with "Heroes/commanders" or COH: Arena will be coming using the game engine from DoW3. Only question is which MMO arena will come first. Ofc I might be wrong, we'll see within the next 6-9 months or so. I think 2016-2017 is going to be a big milestone for the future of innovative rts with Relic/CA leading the way. So yeah I am excited ![]() FYI, Relic + Creative Assembly studio info/links; Dawn of War 3 domain registered http://www.pcgamer.com/dawn-of-war-3-domain-registered/ Sega have registered the website domain www.dawnofwar3.com, presumably in advance of a new Space Channel 5 game announcement. "Ownership. Confidence. Sega leaves the studios to do what they're good at. We looked at it and were like, 'this is ours to own.' People who work there are engaged and excited. I've been there for 16 years, and I'm more excited about the next couple of years than I have been probably any time prior." "Speaking of the bowels of Relic, the studio is currently around 120 people. That's some way short of its 2007/2008 peak of 180, but Duffy says it's growing: "We're in pretty good shape." Of those 120, between 65 and 70 are working on COH2 content, but the number varies. Relic now develops using what Duffy calls strike teams that build a piece of content from start to finish "so they can invest in it". 120 minus 70 leaves around 50 people - plenty to be doing secret new things, Duffy says. "Teams come and go. Sizes change. We're very flexible." Thread: Next patch sneak peak by Relic9 Oct 2015, 01:05 AM
Thx for feedback, I'll check it out. Im just fed up with naysayers giving the false impression that Relic is a failure because they have SC2 to cling on to or some braindead MOBA game that dont require half a brain active to play. Ofc the naysayers fail to realize that Blizzard have not made one single RTS that is not a C&C clone and I highly doubt they will ever make one. SC3? No, they are more likely to remake SC1. For those of us that want to focus on the future of innovative RTS and/or MMO RTS there is no real competition to Relic / Creative Assembly working now under the same umbrella at Sega. Yes Relic/CA have been a niche genre compared to the success of C&C clones/SC, but that dont mean it will continue to stay that way. With SC2 eSport hype slowly dying in South Korea and Blizzard moving to MOBA games/team based FPS (Overwatch), the future for CA/Relic RTS/MMORTS looks promising for the next 10 years or longer. I want to stress again that MMO RTS are pretty huge on mobile/tablets and console MMO RTS also have alot of potential. Relic/CA haven't even started to get a MMO brand on cross-platforms. So far CA are making baby steps with Total War:Arena (I have been playing the beta) which is like a medieval version of Company of Heroes: Online that was cancelled to make COH2 instead. More MMO spin-off games are coming for sure that tie with COH, DoW and Total War series. Look at Total War: Warhammer, CA are starting to build up hype for the DoW franchise for Relic. Relic have said before, if they make DoW3 it'll become more MMO like, MMO-spin off will happen to COH as well. You can rest assure both Relic and CA are thinking about getting into the console market for the "casual player" and maybe in 5+ years highend tablets as CA/Relic "games on the go". So really, its time to get excited as a community to help Relic/CA build the next generation of RTS on PC and/or MMO RTS games on cross platforms. Yes even Paula can get on the "hype train"; ![]() In: Lobby |
Thread: Next patch sneak peak by Relic7 Oct 2015, 23:11 PM
This game was released 2 years ago,it is still suffering from balance problems, bugs, exploits and optimization issues. Ok name at least two currently active RTS games (not Command & Conquer clones) that is a "higher quality game" than COH2. Let's try to be more fair here. When it comes to RTS, Blizzard are just C&C copycats and I think Relic deserve abit more credit as pioneers in RTS along with Creative Assembly with the Total War series. IIRC, Blizzard Entertainment have been publishing their own games for many years. Relic Entertainment had to work with at least 4 different publisher with one going bankrupt. To name a few; Homeworld 1 + 2, Sierra Entertainment Impossible Creatures, Microsoft Dawn of War, THQ COH, THQ COH2, SEGA CA & Relic are both pioneers in RTS that have been living in the shadow of Starcraft and others C&C copycats for more than a decade. Yes Blizzard currently make good MMO/MOBA games. But when it comes to RTS, they cant continue to just milk money from classic C&C RTS which are a dying game genre on PC. In South Korea, SC1 eSport & community helped alot to build up "hype" for SC2's popularity in the EU/US. Now the SC2 hype are dieing in South Korea, Blizzard RTS will die slowly with it. Many players are moving to MOBA/MMO games and Bllizard are moving with games such as Overwatch (team based FPS) and Hearthstone + Heroes of the storm. Bllizard are just not going to take the risk with innovative RTS like Relic and Creative Assembly or to create a MMO RTS. It's getting pretty obvious for potential eSport sponsors that Blizzard are abandoning RTS for MOBA/MMO games. So that eventual will mean less money for SC2 tournaments. For CA/Relic that mean if they polish their RTS franchise (console + pc) they can get more attention from eSport sponsors that want to focus on innovative RTS that can potentially take over from SC2. Mobile casual RTS games (Game of War + Clash of Clans) are more popular than ever and casual gamers are the fastest growing community in the gaming industry. Console/mobile RTS = Casual gamer, PC RTS = less casual and more hardcore RTS. http://www.cnbc.com/2015/08/03/the-shocking-truth-about-mobile-gaming.html ![]() Compared to most COH2 players I am an relative old RTS/MMO gamer. I played Homeworld 1 in the top10 ladder and was also a top player/visionary leader in a very complex MMO game (EvE Online). HW1 released 1 year after SC1 and was light years ahead of Blizzard in innovation. With Homeworld, Dawn of War and COH, Relic have made at least 3 innovative RTS games that are not C&C clones. So stop with the naysaying. Either believe in COH2 (or COH3/DoW3) and help make history. Or go back to C&C clone games and have fun with that dieing era. Your choice. In: Lobby |

Thread: 2v2 strats.5 Oct 2015, 21:18 PM
Here is a new replay after I watch yours, improving my play (really destroying platoon to have acces to call in double Re for 310 MP was something i didn't know), something I do too : I upgrade bolster before call in engis I saw the replay, in general you did good. Listed below are a few ways to maybe improve depending on your personal preferences;. 1. Cap order; At 1:12m your were capping VP and then later munitions. Early game priority fuel not munition point / VPs. 2. Wait for bolster research to finish before RE call-ins so no need to reinforce from 4 to 5 men 3. When feasible keep one or more mg in buildings for cover/range/sight-range bonus and to avoid flank from 222s/rifle grenades. Fortunately for you, enemy did not have alot of early game armor. Get vickers accuracy bulletins if you have them. Bonus range from vetted mgs in buildings also help to scare away offensive snipers (without vet2 sight bonus) as they need a spotter to safely shoot at you. 4. Centaur instead of Cromwell and get a second AT if they go fast T3 5. After Centaur get Anvil + racks + mine sweaper for double lmgs on at least a couple of REs for fast repair and long range DPs. The minesweeper increase repair as well, IIRC. Also the officer with brens are more effective than IS/RE lmgs and can fire on the move. FYI RE stats; They(Heavy Engineers) repair as fast as sturmpioneers with a sweeper, and their Explosive ability can clear obstacles/blow down walls. This includes even the annoying bushes that prevent certain buildings from being used to their full potential (looking at you middle house on Faymonville). Salvage engineers salvage a certain amount of resources ranging from Manpower, Munitions, and Fuel from wrecks depending on the health of the wreck and the type of wreck. Officer Charge ability; ALL Squads (even teammates squads)under influence of the Charge ability receive +25% received accuracy, move twice as fast, have -20% cooldown, and have +40% accuracy, for 10 seconds. 7. Go vanguard instead and use the 1 CP "raid operation" ability for fast cap (can use armor to cap as well), it really make a big difference on some of the big maps. For fast tech brits are usually floating munitions so might as well use some of that early-mid game. 8. You were floating 700 MP+ at around 10M. If you have good map control go air officer + heroic charge which help RE blob mid-late game. Heroic charge are very good late game to increase long range DPS from RE lmgs and mid game to charge RE for close range. Air officer also get scout plane which give the option to scout for werh T3 or T4 tech. In general Vanguard just have more versatility and if werh light armor are a big problem, AEC + raid operation can also harrass enemy cut off. 9. After you have first centaur/crowwell its sometimes useful to get a bofor or forward Assembly close to a VP/fuel for reinforcement and Coordinated Fire which dont require IS/sniper flares. Hope that helps. In: UKF Strategies |
Thread: RE spam4 Oct 2015, 21:36 PM
Guess I should have said this is primary a 2vs2 strat for randoms. A 2vs2 player (Barantah) was interested in RE spam/non IS build so I posted this as I did not have good 2vs2 replay since last patch. Not the best showcase of RE spam but I got into the top10 random brits using primary RE spam so it works if played well enough. With 6 x RE call-in (4xRE call in I show in the replay) brits save 300 manpower and with raid operation you can cap the map really fast if werh go sniper/support heavy. With this 2vs2 strat, the Airborne officer is situational because it cost over 500 manpower, thats over 3 RE squads (3 x 160 mp with call ins). Mid-late game I would still get the officier but only after I have solid map control. Centaurs will get a nerf and maybe also Commandos, RE spam wont. RE spam scale well with churchills + AT guns. Fast repair, cheap 13 MP reinforce with vet3 and up to 3 lmgs on each RE. Yes right now Centaurs and Commandos/officier are popular (if not OP) but dont underestimate RE spam. In: Replays |
Thread: 2v2 strats.4 Oct 2015, 11:52 AM
Barantah I'll take a look at the replay tomorrow. I have uploaded the game I had vs jove showing RE/sniper/AEC into Cent. For 1vs1 and 2vs2 vs Werh; AEC are decent against T2-T4 strats with light armor but risky against fast Ostwind with T2-T3. Some experience players have said AEC are decent against OKW (to deny getting flak HQ into good position) but I havent seen any replay/twitch stream of that yet. Personal, with RE spam I have trouble beating OKW in 1vs1, but not 2vs2. The long ISG range + fast luchs are pretty tough to deal with on 1vs1 maps. On the 2vs2 maps you can usually outcap OKW with RE spam + Raid operation (vanguard commander) but 1vs1 not so much. In: UKF Strategies |
