Cyberpunk 20177 is easily one of 2020's most highly anticipated games, releasing on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as the next major RPG release from CD Projekt Red, the creators of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that GOG, a lesser known PC games retailer that specialises in DRM-free gaming, has succeeded in receiving approximately one-third of digital PC pre-orders for Cyberpunk 2077, acting as a huge win for the storefront. The game's remaining digital pre-orders come from Steam and the Epic Games Store, with the bulk of the Cyberpunk 2077s pre-orders likely coming from Valve's Steam platform.
GOG is owned by the CD Projekt Group, and as such acts as CD Projekt Red's PC retailer of choice, as all proceeds from Cyberpunk 2077 will go to the company behind the title. To further incentivise these purchases, CD Projekt Red is also giving GOG purchasers exclusive access to print-quality Cyberpunk 2077 posters, an exclusive digital booklet about the game and an additional set of wallpapers and avatars.
Despite Steam's dominant position within the PC gaming market, it seems that a large number of PC gamers are willing to side with GOG when purchasing Cyberpunk, with the promise of better developer funding and DRM-free gaming being major draws for the platform.

This clearly demonstrates Kotaku is on the losing side of history trying to have Disrespect permanently banned from Twitch. Jason Schreier is a competent journalist but he bet on the wrong horse.

Really Blizzard? You laid off your entire HS community team and left it in shambles. Other CMs you laid off are still looking for work (not me) and you post this? SHAMEFUL. SHAME ON YOU.
REHIRE THE PEOPLE YOU LAID OFF THAT ARE STILL LOOKING FOR JOBS
HOW HARD IS THIS
I would like to thank everyone that interacted with this post. It’s difficult to bring awareness to issues when things are constantly swept under the rug or when people pretend like it doesn’t exist.
The game industry needs to change.
LMAO it’s literally a three person role all mashed together. Any sane person with experience would take one look at this and nope out.
I’ve only missed one BlizzCon. WoW was a part of my life for years. I never thought I would think this way about Blizzard.
It is a very hard area of expertise to be in right now. The value of communication outside of influencer marketing seems to be getting lower overall.
People are afraid, I don’t blame them. Being outspoken on social media can lead to them not finding employment elsewhere.
The last remaining Global CM just quit, what a mess.

CoH2 discounts/giveaways devalue the base game.
Steam selling base game for 19,99€ make Relic/Sega vulnerable to re-sellers such as Kinguin and G2A (the secondary market/gray market).
The truth behind those mysteriously cheap gray market game codes

Gravity Ghost isn't the only title on sale at Kinguin, or at its competitor G2A. On these and similar marketplaces you can pick up just about any game you want, including triple-A titles, often at huge discounts. Steam keys, Origin keys, gift keys and even codes from the back of pre-purchased retail game cards — these storefronts have it all.

R told us that he makes between 1,000 and 1,500 Euros in total revenue per month on his store, or between $1,100 and $1,700. During the holidays, he says, that can rise to more than $2,200 per month. We asked if this was his full-time job, to which he responded, "Something like that." We can't really be sure if his store on Kinguin is his primary source of income.
OUR SELLER SEES MONTHLY REVENUE OF $1,100 TO $2,200 PER MONTH
From the perspective of consumers, the sale of gray market games makes sense. Sometimes people receive games as gifts, or as promotional offers and either do not want them or do not need them. Promotions like Steam discounts and Humble Bundle sales are timed offers, and invite those with the means to make speculative purchases, investments of a sort, where game keys are farmed with the intention of selling them later for a profit.
For those that missed the news cycle EA practically lied to a UK Parliament.
Fifa19 has some of the worst predatory gambling and loot boxes in gaming and regulators are finally paying attention to the wild west of EA gambling.
In a hail mary attempt to deflect responsibility EA thought it was a clever idea to rebrand 'loot boxes' to 'surprise mechanics'. Likening loot boxes to Kinder Eggs.
EA claim this is quite ethical because kids love kinder eggs.
You just can't make this stuff up.
Gamers: This is not piracy but surprise discount and is quite ethical!
... AND Homeless?
Oh, my. The inconvenient truth he spouts!
IMO we need to support the diversity of opinions/intellectual diversity as no one knows all the answers. If gamers don't support each other, no one else will.
Old school access media/media conglomerate has serious conflict of interest and not pro-gamer.
Big corporate media has supported hit pieces on the gaming community all the way back to Dungeons and Dragons board games.
YouTube and/or streaming influencers such as Drdisrespect is the new access media that sell games.
Old school access media will become irrelevant as they failed to adapt.
Even EA marketing is making significant investments into influencers to sell games/MTX:
This is the future!
Personally, I'm hoping independent creators such as Bellular News continues to grow and they have aspirations to create new gaming documentaries/investigative journalism.

As for the slippery slope of censorship. This game director explains the history of game censorship. The new Chinese game market is very pro-censorship to the detriment of western gamers:
