Actually, it looks like you can just drop the instances folder into the new mod, and upon launching the Attribute Editor it will load them up. Then, select a 280x280 .tga file in your mod folder. I recommend naming it the same as your .mod, .xml, and mod folder. In: Modding and Tools

There are numerous Lua tutorials out there, including the official Lua website.
