Thread: Strange fact about ramming T34s27 Oct 2013, 18:58 PM It appears that you can ram ANY vehicle. Allthough this is not generally relevant, it may in some special cases be it. I discovered this recently in a team game where my team mate rammed a pak which allowed the other approaching, and allready damaged, tanks to press on their base raid. In: Red Army Strategies

Maxims are so local a threat that it'll only work in houses. And even there the german counter is ready at hand in T1: mortar. Ie. I've tried this and it did not work. Maybe I'm a butter-finger, but it failed BIG time, so I don't understand this at all. The only similar strategy I can make work, is to steal a MG42. Most of the poor krauts have no idea how to combat their own, super effective weapon... In: Red Army Strategies

So you are calling several posters here anecdotal? I can't see any better evidence than looking at the results of the same player. And 1) Unless you expect that a player for some strange reason would have excellent skills with german faction, but forget all about his skills when playing soviets, why on earth would the stats of the same player be so much different? 2) We've had the better results with germans than soviets mentioned several times. I have yet to see any intermediate or noob claim better results with soviets than germans. In: COH2 Gameplay

And since 2e FJ was put into action on the eastfront, I suppose they could have had (light) AT dropped. It's also quite possible, however, that the only airborne part of the FJ operations was to move men by planes and that their equipment was moved by land. Not even the biggest german para operation (Crete) seems to have had much heavy equipment para dropped. In: Lobby

If you are not very skilled, than they most certainly are. More skillful you are, less of an issue it is due to asimetric faction design until you get to higher skill where it bares no weight. I have the same experience as the OP. I hardly lose games as germans, but get trounced on a regular basis as soviets. I guess the quote above holds the truth because the high level replays do not seem to indicate any big difference. That said, it IS kind of a problem that the game is balanced for the top 200, but unbalanced for the bottom 199.800. In: COH2 Gameplay

Why is it ok for Germans to have both AT and AI options available to build in both tiers and not for Soviets? Because the game was designed to present the two sides with different challenges. The soviet challenge is that they will have overall technical inferiority, but numerical superiority. The german challenge is the opposite situation. I can see the point in that design and do not wish for both sides to become much the same. It doesn't rule out tweaks to the various units and gameplay, though. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Reducing Soviet building cost and time 25 Oct 2013, 08:01 AM I don't think it makes all that much sense to compare the cost of each tier for the two sides. Simply because the soviet tier 1 does not do anything near what the german tier 1 does. What one should look at, is the cost of a proper set of counters by a certain time of the game. Point being that by the time both sides have build tier 2, germans have the advantage of vehicles _AND_ AT. The same is true about the german tier 3 which cannot really be countered by the soviet tier 3. It's like the soviets need a tier more at any given time. I don't have the solution, but I think it does not express any kind of balance to compare the cost tier by tier. In: COH2 Balance

Perhaps give the carrying tank a minor speed penalty and no firing if loaded. That's supposing the game can support such a role for the tanks at all? In: Lobby
