Ostheer does this directly through paying an inflated tech cost (battle phases), which pays for their side costs as well as their tech. Allies pay through side tech, which while overall more expensive than teching the Ostheer way, allows you to make tactical choices and get by with less than 100% investment in your units. OKW currently pay about the same for tech as USF, but gets their grenades, weapon upgrades, healing, repair, and static defensive building through this cost. This is the reason why the pre-patch OKW has such a dominating force at all times, without sacrificing any lategame armor tech. Not to mention they get better top tier units out of their T4 than USF, as well as (arguably) better low tier light vehicles. In conclusion, if you want OKW to get their weapon unlocks and grenades unlocked through teching like Ostheer, they have to pay the prices that come with those upgrades, in the form of more expensive teching costs. Otherwise, the only way to balance them is to give them seperate side tech to pay for these upgrades with. +1 In: COH2 Balance

They have no real counters other then being overwhelmed by a large number of tanks. The only reason they aren't complained about more here is because they are pretty much useless in 1v1 where their cost prevents the player from supporting it properly. And the vast majority of coh2.org members don't care about anything other then 1v1. They really need to rebalance it so it is equally powerful across all modes. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Balance Preview Patchnotes23 Nov 2015, 19:02 PM Good changes. The new OKW's early and midgame are starting to shape up nicely. Their late game still needs some work though. Best medium TD, panther, and up-armored P4 coming out the same time as shermans and T-34/76s and being replaced/maintained just as quickly isn't going to end well. I really think the prices need to go up, to recreate that resource starved late game that they were trying to accomplish with the resource penalty. Their late game was by no means weak before, and the changes have left them much stronger, with both a better early game and more resources. In: COH2 Balance

And the they have literally 0 other weaknesses and are easily the strongest faction in the game in the mod. USF has no anti-garrison and brits have no mobile indirect. OKW has to be weak somewhere. Thread: Balance Preview Patchnotes21 Nov 2015, 02:40 AM The 100% resources is good for making helping balance their abilities, upgrades. and light vehicle. But with the armor choices OKW has, it really feels like their late game has just become so extremely potent. Something needs to be done to slow down their late game armor production. Allies can't keep up with such powerful armor late game armor being produced at a normal rate and at the same time as their weaker tanks. Even whermacht would have trouble dealing with it if they had to face them. In: COH2 Balance

Yeah I was always for simply buffing the barrage instead of the suppression in the first place. I always thought the suppresion was a bad way to buff it, but now it's just back to square 1. How will the US have more trouble with blobs, if Volks now cost more and teching to T2 / ISG is way later and way more expensive? And I love how the people act as if Lieutenant tier is nonexistent. Pack Howie or bust. As if the .50cal or the AAHT are not an option. the price increase on volks is minimal. Especially compared to their new increased effectiveness, dual grenades, more accesible schreks, and the extra manpower from the cheaper strums. The pack is an extremely vulnerable unit that has neither the retreat capability of mortars, or the gun shield and range of the lieg. It also has no anti infantry flak gun safe zone to fall back to and fire from. On top of this there isn't even a suppression unit to protect it in the captain tier. If the enemy infantry comes into range of t they can easily fire on it all the way back to the base. That means the pack always has to pack up and retreat before the infantry is in range or it will be wiped. before the suppression allowed the pack to slow down assaults to give it more time to fire and run away. now the pack will have much less time to fire and retreat in assaults. It'll provably struggle to get even 3 shots off before it has to get out of dodge even with a decent rifle screen. In: COH2 Balance

Schreck package back to 90 muni. Volks now 250 manpower. Sturm flammers now 0CP. Suppression removed from ISG/Pack Howie. Oh god this patch is going to be a clusterfuck. Now USF will have even more trouble dealing with the new OKW blobs. They still have the no auto-facing too and their RoF was nerfed pretty bad before. Without the suppression they'll probably get easily overrun. Meanwhile the ISG will still just be hanging back behind the flak HQ picking away at the allies with no worry of retaliation with it's super range. In: COH2 Balance
