Grenadiers are still stronger than conscripts for cost at vet0, and god help conscripts after the grenadiers start getting vet or lmg42s. Massed grenadiers have even less counters to them than massed MGs. It does require a bit more effort as with MG42s you can just attack move straight to their base and be more or less guaranteed results. sadly true. and swarming grens/pgrens even helps more in late game due to shrecks/fausts as a Soviet if you want to slow down tanks with infantry you have to call in a doctrinal squad and use button (which lasts a few seconds and can be broken out with smoke or suppressing/stunning/killing guards), as German you can just use basic infantry with faust (which damages engine indefinitely) In: COH2 Balance

Fences (walked around), deep snow (avoided), roads (prioritized), even trees (see Minsk) can heavily influence the path units take. Planting mines and tripwire flares where the enemy doesn't expect them can be more effective than planting them where your enemy suspects/expects them even though the maximum damage done (see that M8 mine video) can be smaller (except when catching a vehicle and he doesn't have pios nearby). green covers! and bridges, building entrances, river crossings In: Red Army Strategies

Yes I get one as soviet but I don't usually rely on it for anything, whatever comes is a bonus, it usually ends the game with around 10 kills. The fact that it's artillery and hard to kill makes it seem so disturbing but really it's not overpowered. Germans get the nondoctrinal one which is pretty nice as well compared to the vanilla soviet one. And yes it's better than the german's but remember we're going for asymmetrical balance so you shouldn't really judge overall balance comparing similar units one to another. Also mind that by going with mortars a player sacrifices capping power and AT power. And remember that not everything has to have hard counters, just let it live and limit it's usefullness.
