Ok so latest patch they reduced stug's target size from 20 to 14. This is a 30% decrease in size. Thus, hopefully the su85 will have a harder time hitting the stug while at range. Let's see how this affects the metagame.
Read troglodyte's comments on the thread in the link below if you wanna know more about scatter/target sizes and accuracy. Scatter works in a cone, and the further away the target, the smaller part it fills in the cone. Thus Stug and su85 battles might play out differently than before.
Maybe a vet 2 stug will even beat a vanilla su85? Im definitely gonna try using stugs more, maybe in combination with either panzer tactitian or scopes.

The scatter changes are really good. Ostwind was one shot one killing everything, and tiger was missing all the time. Stop saying T70 is buffed, it's a very small change and considering how fast can be killed it's really no problem. Im not saying t70 is un-killable, its just hard to kill with a pak or with schreks, if the other player is skillful and microes it well. The t70 was also one shotting squad members already and will do it even more now. Ostwind is more expensive than t70 and also remember german squads are 4 not 6 thus one shotting t70 will force retreat even faster now and also kill retreating squads. We will have to see if it "is really no problem". T70 rush will be even more deadly than it was. Maybe the stug will become a better counter to the t70... or maybe 222's with smoke(coming at one cp)? Good patch and awesome that the langreskaya is in. Unit command delay fix is fantastic. I hated it when my units just waited a while before moving away from nade/molotov. What does 1 frame mean? 1 frame at 60fps will be 0.01666666 seconds which is almost nothing, while 1 frame at 20fps will be 0.05 seconds which is still really quick.. Wonder how it will play out, and how much shorter the effective delay will be in game? I am concerned that they buffed the t70. Quick T70 was already hard to counter with T2 pgrens and paks, and now the t70 will snipe them even better. Pak's accuracy will still be shite vs the t70. T34-85 buff to scatter is good, p4 nerf is not bad but hopefuilly they didnt nerf it too hard? They left out the su85's insanely small scatter They did bring riegels to 1 cp, so maybe this will be a more viable counter to su85's now...The stug's buff is great, it means it will be more surviveable/harder to hit. Would have liked its range buffed instead.. Really looking forward to doing some 1 cp mortar halftrack builds ![]() HTD nerf was more than warranted. Strafe nerf we will have to see how that pans out in play, but it was being abused so its good they looked at it. What I wonder about is wether the scatter ratio's also increase effectiveness vs tanks? It seems to me like less scatter = better chance to hit target, regardless of what the target is. i.e. the Tiger and IS-2 will now be better vs Tanks and better vs infantry, while the p4 will be worse vs everything? Unit pathing fix - Great! Will see in game but this is potentially a game changer. Light vehicles should especially not get stuck so often, as they have to be microe'd out of the missile lock at nade/fausts. Also for those interested: The SU85 had 45mm of sloped frontal armor at 30 degrees from vertical.(same as t34) If you do the trigonometric calcualtion (quite simple) it equates to the equivalent of 51.96 mm. straight/vertical plate armor. The Stug III Ausf G by comparison had 80mm of frontal armor. Add to this the fact that the Stug also had the same penetration as the SU-85. "STUG's used 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 gun. Firing above mentioned ammunition, longer L/48 could penetrate 96 mm (30 degrees from vertical)." - copied from wikipedia. Thus it could penetrate equivalent max of 110.85 mm straight/vertical plate armor if you do the calculation.(again easy trigonometrics) From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StuG_III The SU-85 used the d-5t 85mm gun. This gun could penetrate a maximum of 110mm straight/vertical plate armor. see this table: http://www.wwiivehicles.com/ussr/guns.asp The two vehicles thus had very similiar armor penetrating capabilities and ranges. The stug had a lot more armor though, but they could both penetrate each other(slightly easier to penetrate su-85) and the su-85 certainly didnt have more range than the stug. It is thus quite ridiculous how much frontal armor the su85 has in the game compared to the stug which is penetrated so easily. I mean sure, they have to balance the game, but the stug is currently laughable compared to the su85, while in real life it was kindof the opposite. In: COH2 Balance |

Remove Cone sight, its fucking stupid. I feel your pain man, stug was one of my fav units from vCoh, and now its useless. This is stupid regarding the fact that the Stug IRL was just as good as the SU-85 (If not better, since the Germans had superior optics and better trained crews) At the moment the stug is only useful vs the T34 and lighter. P4 is better vs everything. Stug should be germans counter to su-85, not the p4. P4 can flank it sure, but this is a tactical/micro counter, not a hard counter. Stug should be a hard counter to the SU-85. Even though it deals slightly less damage, it should be the same as the su85 in other aspects. For example :
(These examples do not take support into account) The stug and SU-85 should have the same movement(especially reverse) speeds. SU-85 can deal a little more damage, cos it costs more, but stug should have same range. Stug and SU85 should both get cone viz at vet 1. The stug's target weak point is kindof a dumb ability when you are duelling su-85's since they dont even get a shot off. Target weak point must be replaced by cone visibility at vet 1 and for SU-85 also at vet 1. Currently germans are forced to get p4, which makes the games boring. Relic will look at this i'm sure of it. I would actually prefer getting stugs and ostwinds in my games. The stug being a tank destroyer (which it isn't currently, but should be!) and the ost for AI, AA and light AT. In the current patch this build wont do jack shit if he gets su85's. In: COH2 Balance |

Not bad points overall. My comments however: SU85 reverse speed also needs to be looked at. I don't think ostwind should be nerfed. They already take very long to kill a t34. If ostwind is hitting the T34 in the ass, its bad micro from russian player. Panzer IV damage nerf to 120 is way too much. The reason I say this: Panther comes out way later than the SU-85, and you can only get one if you are ahead by a considerable margin. Germans need a panzer IV to counter su85, unless stug range is buffed. Nerfing P4 damage to 120 will make it useless. Maybe nerf it to 150/140, but only if su-85 reverse speed is also nerfed. By the way, what is SU-85 damage currently? (stats page still down) ![]() You compare su85 cone sight to elefant cone sight. Facepalm. Elefant is waaaayyyy later and more expensive. SU85 cone sight at vet 1 will be a good change. No-one suggested it be taken away. After all, german tank abilities come at vet one. ![]() IS-2 needs a buff yes. In: COH2 Balance |

Keep in mind an increase to the PAKs accuracy will not only improve performance vs. tanks but infantry as well. This says a lot. I think the reason why the pak is missing it such a lot is because it is fast AND small. Thus +- 2x reduced accuracy vs it cos it moves fast and presents a small target. Schreks usually hit it at least, but as stated earlier it takes 3 hits to kill it. Considering how fast the t70 kills pgrens and its ability to kite them cos its range is longer plus schreks only fire when stationary, a slight range nerf will prolly be warranted. T70 also has somewhat better pathing than larger tanks, so in the hands of a skilled opponent killing it using only schreks is a bitch. Getting two schrek squads at that time in the game will leave you very vulnerable in other areas since schrek squads are less good vs infantry. That is to say if you even have the 240, yes 240 munitions for this, not to mention a lot of manpower. The problem that now presents itself is if you increase its target size, it will also be more likely to get hit by tanks and everything else. We don't neccesarily want that because that affects its utitlity later in the game also. The crux point is right where it comes out and the other player only has t1 and t2 to deal with it for a couple of minutes. These minutes can often be game ending (or at least game changing). The pak should be looked at from a much wider perspective as its role is more spread out throughout the duration of the game. I dont think a slight accuracy buff is out of the question, since it doesnt really do much at all vs infantry, will it be too effective vs inf if its accuracy is increased slightly? I don't know, but I don't think so. Also the Zis should perhaps receive same buff to be fair? Another problem with t70's is that they can chase down and kill infantry that is retreating and you can lose numerous squads if you are not careful. It can even run amock in your base if you dont have schrek squads. Now im not saying it is completely OP, it just needs some small tweaking... All the proposed nerfs to the T70 are SLIGHT ones. It will definitely still be useful and deadly, it must just be counterable if a german player prepared well for it ie. got a pak. In: COH2 Balance |

You are only making yourself more of a troll. First off T3/T4 is TOTALLY irrelevant since geman tiering is linear, and Russian tiering is not. Seriously you think because its T4 it should be this uber unit? Lol, It comes out the same time as a P4, even costs the same. Im not even going to elaborate further about Tiers, since I dont think you will change your mind since you are clearly a russian fanboi. No-one was commenting on SU-85 being able to "shout" (lol you meant shoot I guess) further than a P4. The trouble is, IT SHOOTS FARTHER THAN EVERYTHING including stugs, which is a very similiar assault gun.(exept elefant which is irrelevant cos it comes LATE) Also, flanking it on a map like pripiyat is nigh impossible without driving round all the way around the side of the map making your tank extremely vulnerable to at nades. SU-85 might be russians only good at tank, but THIS IS PRECISELY THE PROBLEM. That is why the balance should be adressed as a whole and other tanks like the T34 and the stug also need balancing attention.
