This is my first victory on Moscow Outskirts. I used to be terrified of the Mg42 until I started building very early Maxims. Most of my opponents have tried to counter Maxim spam with scout cars, snipers or mortars. Unfortunately for them I am fast teching to T70 which just HOSES all of those units.
Next on the list is getting 1-3 120MM mortars which are the backbone of the midgame. The T70 is a highly mobile spotter for them and their barrage is just ridiculous. Maxims can be hard to blead which gives you the manpower to call-in your tanks and just end the suffering XD

They require siily and tedious achievements to get and are useless in the long run. Badly implemented and worthless feature imo I also think this is a good idea. Maybe five would let you max out hard on one type of unit, but that will also give a red light for your opponent before the match to know what counters to make. I also would prefer to just see the bulletins axed but keep all of the cool flavor text somehow. In: COH2 Gameplay |

If none of them are helping you I would just pick one with off-map artillery for the kabooms. In: Replays |

Sounds cool. It's like Inverse's Conscript spam except with fewer Conscripts + more Maxims. Tycho saying something resembling positivity regarding the Maxim?! I kid I kid. I find my Maxims don't seem that amazing until after a match and I have like 400% efficiency with them. Lately I've been using them as a responsive unit to my opponent making a lot of infantry rather than trying to rush them out. If you make setup teams too quickly you will get sniped like crazy. I have been going hog wild with 120mm mortars lately though and if you can deny your opponents fuel having an Mg in the mix to hold him back can be nuts. Even better is re-crewing an MG42 and setting up enfilading fire. The 42 suppression combined with the Maxims excellent sustained fire is nasty. |
Thread: T0 Mortar-Doctrine Tacitc21 Jun 2013, 22:45 PM
I read this a while back and just started picking Guard Motor every game last night. I got about a six win streak immediately. My build has been different though depending on the map. Combat Engineer T1 or T2 with the fresh engy while the first one caps. scout car or sniper for T1 for capping and anti-Mg42 tech. Sniper is very nice if you keep him/her alive long enough to be a spotter for your 120's. Go tier three or four as soon as you can for a fast T70 or Su76 to kill inevitable snipers that the opponent will build as anti-mortar units. Then I will back tech to tier two if I went for tier one to be able to get zis field guns for the inevitable Stug or Panzer he will build to stop your T70 or Su-76. All in all I find this doctrine to be very reactive and extremely flexible. Some games (especially if I control the fuel) I will get greedy and make three 120mm mortars and one or two T70's to patrol and let me tell you, three of them cross-firing on a capping point is insane. |
Thread: Guards Motor Goodness21 Jun 2013, 22:09 PM
After a nasty losing streak I decided to change my strategy and start using Guards Motor for the 120mm mortar call in. I'll make anywhere from 1-3 and when you get a crossfire going it's insane. Especially with vet one and sticky bombing or ramming tanks you can rain hell on the opponent once disabled. I didn't get 400% efficiency like I can with them sometimes but I'm finding this Commander to be VERY flexible since you can build tier one or two and fill in the holes in your gameplan with call-ins. I've had a LOT of players making an MG42 first against me so my quickish sniper doubles as a scout for mortar sighting as well as decrewing the MG's. Salvaging the Mg42's is just so ridiculously good with Soviets. I got over 400% with it in this match. My tank play needs some work but I feel like this was a good example of how flexible this doctrine is. I feel like I'm better off making ZIS instead of using the T34/85 call in but two tanks hitting the field instantly can REALLY distract your opponent from map control. Cheers What Doth Life?! Thread: How the hell do you beat late game Ostheer?!18 Jun 2013, 19:53 PM
I can consistently get early game map control and get out T70's or T34's pretty fast but once the Panzers come out I am completely screwed. Every time I've called in the dual T34/85's they die almost instantly. Should I be trying to get tier 4 to beat the Ostheer armor? Totally stumped. Thanks in advance to anyone who replys.
