i feel like Ostheer has to be pretty careful what they pick for commanders when entering the 2v2+ scene. For 3v3+ gamemodes the tiger is RARELY a good option. 4v4s especially are more about taking out enemies without sustaining casualties so your army slowly becomes more vetted than that of your enemy. Imho, the most useful commanders for ostheer 3v3+ are spotting scopes since it benefits 3x the amount of players. Get a 222 with spotting scopes, place him in a centralized spot off the frontline and see what the enemy is doing. Give sight for your indirect fire, TDs, infantry, ATGs, and HMGs and you already have a huge advantage over your enemy.
Best 4v4 cmdr for ostheer IS jaeger armor. |
Because they lose solely because other dude hacked or was using OP shit, never before player in question actually sucks donkey balls to the point where a kitten playing with the pc mouse would outplay him.
Some things are better left unsaid. |
I win most matches...this is no rage post. I just want the British to not just be a defensive army, it's boring.
Then dont make emplacements. Make infantry tanks commandoes 6pdrs, snipers, sappers, Vickers, AECs |
1) In order to make Churchill more worthwhile, Relic should first address the broken/subpar abilities that hold Anvil synergy back.
- Advanced warning is still bugged (doesn't work at all)
- Airburst shells are awesome. However, HE shells are still garbage (they might need the Sexton treatment).
The latter is important since having access to indirect fire & Heavy Sappers requires a lot of popcap. This brings us to the next problem.
2) In order to utilize all Anvil benefits, this requires too much popcap.
As Brits, you always need 2 Healing Tommies (EVEN if you plan on blobbing your entire army) = 16 popcap
To get access to arty, you need a sniper or a flare tommy = 8 popcap
To make use of heavy sappers, you would be foolish not to get 2 of them = 16 popcap.
That's 5 squads of infantry (or 40 popcap). And notice that none of these squads have any AT utility whatsoever. Sure, you can buy PIATs. However, which squad should use PIATs?
- You can't give PIATs to heavy sappers (since their speed makes them useless to chase tanks)
- You can't give PIATs to tommies (their Vet3 bonus and reload penalty will get in the way).
Finally, on top of that you have the Churchill which has minimal AT utility and costs 18 popcap.
Now, if Brits had access to popcap-free healing, things would have been more tractable (you could forego on-field healing to save up 16 popcap).
3) Anvil Churchill needs a popcap decrease.
Anvil Churchill shares the same popcap as the AVRE and the Crocodile, but shares none of their utility. The Tiger Tank costs only 1 popcap more, and has exactly the same durability (but more speed, better gun, better vet).
In the worst case, if the enemy spams TDs, your AVRE, Crocodile, Tiger is still able to camp a VP and prevent the enemy from capturing. The Churchill can't (thus it only ends up taking popcap).
If you fear Churchill will become too spammable, Relic could introduce a hardcap. However, a slow tank with a subpar gun will never be spammable (since it exposes the player to multiple forms of counterplay). Thus, if you build 2 Churchills, I will build 3 Stugs, and you will end up with 0 Churchills.
4) Churchill needs to award even less veterancy than it does now.
Churchill's main gun is the grenade. This isn't enough to threaten targets, which is OK. However it gives off too much veterancy to targets which it cannot chase/wipe.
You need other units to wipe veterancy off, and Churchill's price already gets in the way of that.
+1
Would rather get free blitz on my tanks and access to gammon bombs for ISs AND access to the superb comet that has only 10 less armor than tiger |
Now that volks no longer have shrecks, crushing isn't necessary for countering blobs since you can just kite them now.
All axis players have dealt with AT blobs without crush. Allied players need to learn to do the same. |
2) The Matilda Tank — a heavy tank like the Churchill and Comet, but unlike them this one should be non-doctrinal and available earlier.
Churchill and comet ARE Non-doctrinal. |
Ostheer squads themselvs wiping enemy squads with their helluva firepower. PzGrens STGs are deadly in mid-close, Grens with MG-42 are deadly at long range, specially buffed with Officier...
It is balance - they dying easy, but they also make other die easy. Compare with 6 men conscripts, which are "hard to be wiped", but their firepower is so low, that they can't kill anyone.
I would like to have effective, but fragile infantry, not tough and ineffective. Riflemans are main core of USF, so they suppoused to be good in everything, UKF... bad design, everything that I can say.
I have a suggestion - if Ostheer players don't like to have such fragile infantry units in stock - let's change Grenadeers to Osttrupen as mainline infantry! Osttrupens are 6 men squad, survivable as you need. But hey... we have already faciton with "Osttrupens" in core, calls USSR. And it sux, really sux...
Stop hurting yourself and others with you nonsense please.
I don't see lmg grens or RM walking into an HMG that's in cover, getting suppressed, and still gunning it down in like 10 seconds.
Grens are main core of ostheer as well so why can't they be good at everything? I'm not saying RM are OP (except maybe with double lmgs while suppressed) but compared to grens they are terminators.
Losing squads against ostheer means you weren't paying attention and got your unit killed.
Grens don't necessarily need a 5th man but they do need to be spaced out more to prevent getting wiped my explosives so easily. I don't remember the last time a mortar shell wiped my 5 man IS in one shot. |
I've been doing that since day 1 and a lot of competitive players too.
I want to add one thing to your experiment. In Angoville as you can see, there is height difference in the ground so T-70 miss some shots.
Have you stopped playing coh2 or something? You don't have any rankings anymore. Are you done with the game? |
Yes...
Blocking turret of StuG will surely make it stand still
Brit sniper doesn't stun anything for half a year now.
 |
Don't forget:
the incredibly powerful NON-DOC comet tank
the anti-blob cromwell (seriously, that's not it's role, but everyone THINKS it is)
the centaur (i.e. better ostwind)
half-reinforce cost Vet 3 REs (13mp lol)
mirrored PAK at gun (6lb) AND non-decrewable static AT (vs. decrewable ost static doc AT)
I was talking about the early game. The person i was quoting saying the pit and bofors are the only things holding brits together in the EARLY-MID game. Thats why i didnt mention their superb late game units as well |
