The biggest concern with battle servers I've seen so far I witnessed in a 4v4 I played last night. This could be maybe somewhat minor in the end though.
I have a fairly well built computer so as a result I have my settings set to the max. Now the game runs pretty much perfectly smooth for me in game, but I do have a long load up time.
What I saw in the 4v4 is my teammates loaded along with the enemy before me and the game STARTED before I finished even loading.
I used to have this long load time when I only had 4GB of memory - 8GB solved it instantly so I guess its probably texture sizes and swapping things to cache. I was thinking that what you describe might occur and that the players that hang at the start of these games would be at a disadvantage but then I guess so will people who lag in games whilst others move freely around them.
Im in Europe and the (admittedly few) games I played yesterday were all silky smooth and I appreciated the instant starts - it gave the game a whole new professional sheen. I feel this is a huge step for the game assuming that the experience is fairly universal.
Those with the lag and slow starts, well, turn down i'm afraid or upgrade though Relic could/should increase the graphic options in game to allow more flexibility. Yesterdays nvidia patch was the first to mention coh2 specifically and there are some additional tweaks people can make in the config file and stopping replay encoding to gain a bit more.
Thankyou Relic for doing the right thing in this case
