^^^^yeah, I agree. I've so many games where one side has lost and basically other side spams snipers and comes back. It's too powerful.
I like this idea from COH2 of only cloak in green cover. Or if keep current system, then make movement when cloak ultra slow, like a fraction of what it is now. And increase the decloak time with subsequent shots more, like an extra second compounded with each shot. |
Double US sniper (or even triple) is very OP against wehr because wehr has smaller unit size. It's not only a MP drain but essentially a prop war too.
There should be something to even it out, maybe longer decloak, increased upkeep, less health, etc.
Buildings, paks, etc. shouldn't 95% be destroyed with single off map howie. It's far too powerful early in game. Maybe like 50-50
As mostly a wehr player, those are the two things that bug me a bit. It's not totally OP, but in the hands of a equal level opponent, that's what makes me pound the desk every now and then.
For wehr I think I would make vet 3 more expensive across the board, either in fuel or MP. Not a lot, but maybe another 10%

There are problems in automatch, yes. Every once in a while I get lucky and will get matched against equal skilled players. Clearly the pool of players is down, so your chance to match is tough.
So, Darwinian law, you have to adapt. Anytime I played a GG, I asked player to add me on Steam. Now I have a pool of about 10 players. Whenever I go on, if they're on, we play basic match. problem solved.
Will this let you rank up or affect leader board? No. But that's broken anyway with the drop hack inflated stats.
So you can complain and do nothing and the pool of players continues to shrink, or you find ways to play and maybe slowly more and more people come back.
I agree, I don't think it's in relic's interest to fix COH. The ones playing there aren't in COH2. So why give them an easier way to not upgrade to new game.
I also agree 1000000% with Mortality. There was no reason to totally start from scratch with COH2. It was like they tasked the devs to not use anything good from COH. You have the benefit of a proven model which is highest rated RTS ever and has been polished. You learned from your mistakes. So now you reinvent everything and then yell at people to give it time because COH took years as well.
Sorry. Doesn't work that way.
If the COH2 player base is around 5-8k now, that's pretty much what COH was at in the last days of the old server. I know that doesn't reflect sales because Relic could care less once you buy the game if you don't play. But it does reflect player interest. So it won't be long before you have COH2 players crying about automatch, not getting gg, hacks, etc. At least I still have my $60 dollars though. |
This thread cracks me up from both sides. Such extremists.
It's $60. If you don't like the game, you'll make much bigger (and more expensive) mistakes in your life. Trust me. Next time don't be a follower and have to be the first person on your block to own something. The issues were all there in beta, open beta, etc. Don't know why people were expecting some miracle to happen on ship date or in the first few weeks of release.
If you love the game, great. That $60 bucks will equate to pennies per hour of entertainment fun. But enough with the brown nosing, unless you're trying to set yourself up for a free Vancouver trip for COH3 And enough with the extreme happiness. It kind of reminds me of when someone gets laid off and they say "Oh no, I'm so happy it happened"
If you're somewhere in the middle or haven't bought the game yet (like me), then all you can do is hope they get it right. Whatever that means for your standard. If they don't, move on to the next thing. Personally I hope they improve the game and add the various features because COH1 has provided me with hundreds of hours of fun. |
There are people who want/need to be the first to have something. These are the people who stand in line 3 days before the new iphone comes out, or a new Star Wars movie, etc. I guess it makes them cool.
So I choose to be uncool. But at least I still got my $60. Benefits of not being a teenager I guess and having learned from a few bad experiences.
I played the beta after getting a key from the FB like thing. I literally played 3 games and realized it wasn't for me. And believe me, i really, really, really wanted to like it. I started late with COH, so I wanted to be part of that first wave of the new game.
I heard a lot of pros on here complaining about the issues with the game. So I decided to follow along and not commit. Yet, every time a new patch was released, it was like flies flocking to shit. I get it. Many here have a vested interest in the new game. After all, we're called COH2.org. Good or bad, it's where the volume was going to be and you need volume for popularity, ad sales, etc. No issues, I'm American. Viva Capitalism.
The thing is, I don't have a lot of time. So if I'm going to play a game, I want it to be fun and challenging. COH2 doesn't do it for me, so I stick with COH, even with all the issues. I check back here almost daily, skimming a few posts, hoping to see a string of good news. But when I see a lot of COH pros going back or just not playing COH2, it doesn't give me a lot of hope.
Believe me $60 isn't an issue for me. But I'm not going to pay full price for it out of principle. Your buys count, and unfortunately everyone who just bought the game blindly didn't give Relic much push to get this game right. Balance issues aside, all the back end stuff like leader board, lobby, etc. I mean come on.
But it's all good. I do hope those who bought in continue to play and continue to give educated info back to the devs. If they get the game right, we all win. And those who bought in early should be rewarded, especially if they turn it around and deliver a long lasting game in the vein of COH. Doesn't seem fair that a bunch of us can stay on the sidelines and then join the fun at a discounted price. But I guess we'll never be part of the cool crowd : ) |
LOL at some of these posts. They represent the extremes of typical message boards.
It's ridiculous to think Relic or Sega is going to support a game forever. At the other end of the spectrum, simply from a PR pov, this was in bad taste.
You have a new game about to launch which is a sequel to the best rated RTS ever with a long lasting loyal player base. It was a big snafu in how this was handled. But yes, end of day, at least we still have a game to play, so I'll give them credit there.
What stinks about the whole thing is that COH is the best rated RTS ever so it should be treated better. There's also a sequel title which has just come out. So why would you bury the original. Kind of like destroying all the Star Wars content as soon as Empire Strikes Back comes out.
One is going to feed off the other. Clearly COH2 is going to be the cash cow, but as some new players who jump straight to COH2 might get bored or even just intrigued by the original (kind of like people who saw Empire first and then went back and watched Star Wars), you want to have COH up and ready. Fix the bugs, automatching and maybe one last balance patch for things like stags and sniper spam, etc. and you got a game that continues to be well more worth its weight in gold.
People that are still playing after several years do so for a reason. But the thing is it attracts new players as well. I've played against plenty of 16 year olds that surely didn't start playing when they were 10. I'd say this (although I'm hesitant) that Relic could probably charge a few bucks a month as a service fee on the original, so long as they offered support with it. |
I want to buy it, like really, really want to. COH is the only game I play and I was really looking forward to COH2. But few reasons preventing me.
If COH2 uses same match making system as COH, then no way. It sounds like I'll have an easier time getting a game with COH because at least there's more than 15 people 1v1 automatch. I'm not spending money until they address the drop hack situation anyway.
COH2 is broken. I know a lot of people have vested interested in saying it's fine and good enough, etc. I watched the TFN tournament yesterday. Hats off to you guys. It was a great show, well produced, real quality. But games sucked. When the balance dev from Relic says that the entire German strategy against Russia comes down to a perfectly timed faust, then what sort of balance are we looking at????
The maps are too big for 1v1, the game play is a rush to vehicles with very little inf vs. inf play, there's flames every where way too early causing way too much damage, I can't figure out the mini map or tac map so I don't understand where the key points are, etc. etc. etc. |
I'm collecting comments for The War Gazette on what everyone will be doing on Day 1 of release of CoH2. I will post the best / funniest comments in this article and then send the devs a 'telegram' on D-Day - June 25th.
Cheers!

Playing COH.
Funny enough for you : ) Sadly, it's true though. |
might be cliche but that's funny. |
